What LSU team even comes close to the 2011 Tigers?

The only one I think comes close is the 2003 team and I think the 2011 team is much better based on how we played and who we played. What say you?

2003 LSU Tigers:
Sat, Aug 30 UL-Monroe W, 49-7 <--Saban beats UL Monroe
Sat, Sep 06 Arizona W, 59-13
Sat, Sep 13 Western IllinoisW, 35-7
Sat, Sep 20 #7 Georgia W, 17-10
Sat, Sep 27 Mississippi St. W, 41-6
Sat, Oct 11 Florida L, 7-19
Sat, Oct 18 South Carolina W, 33-7
Sat, Oct 25 #17 Auburn W, 31-7
Sat, Nov 01 Louisiana Tech W, 49-10
Sat, Nov 15 Alabama W, 27-3
Sat, Nov 22 #15 Ole Miss W, 17-14
Fri, Nov 28 Arkansas W, 55-24
Sat, Dec 06 #5 Georgia W, 34-13
Sun, Jan 04 #3 Oklahoma W, 21-14

2011 LSU Tigers:
Sat, Sep 03 #3 Oregon W, 40-27
Sat, Sep 10 Northwestern St.W, 49-3
Thu, Sep 15 #25 Miss St. W, 19-6
Sat, Sep 24 #16WestVirginia W, 47-21
Sat, Oct 01 Kentucky * W, 35-7
Sat, Oct 08 #17 Florida W, 41-11
Sat, Oct 15 Tennessee W, 38-7
Sat, Oct 22 #19 Auburn W, 45-10
Sat, Nov 05 #2 Alabama W, 9-6 (OT)
Sat, Nov 12 Western KentuckyW, 42-9
Sat, Nov 19 Ole Miss W, 52-3
Fri, Nov 25 #3 Arkansas W, 41-17
Sat, Dec 03 #12 Georgia. W, 42-10
Mon, Jan 09 #2 Alabama L, 0-21

Face it, LSU just had the best team it's ever had and 2012 looks like it could be even better.

*This is not a bitch about the NC game/JJ/CLM thread, so please refrain.

2011 was by far the better team IMO. We just didn't finish

The loss to UF in 2003 was a day game in Tiger Stadium and LSU was favored by 10. FYI

If winning national title isn't required I'd nominate 06.

Florida pushed our shite in too hard and the Auburn loss was bullshite. But not getting to the SEC Championship game and a Sugar Bowl win over the lowly Notre Dame disqualifies the 2006 team from the discussion. IMO

I also think the 2005 and 2007 teams were better than the 2006 team.

It's a shame that one team had to win out between this year's Alabama and LSU teams. They both deserve credit for being among the best in history, IMO.

I know the BCSCG amounts to just one loss, but in any sport at any level, the best team does not lose its last game of the season. Whether that be compared to the rest of the teams it is competing against in a given year or in comparison to former iterations of team.

The 2007 New England Patriots disagrees with you. I and many other still consider them among the greatest of all time.

They can disagree all they want but at the end of the day they didn't win a superbowl, they are not up for discussion.

I like 03 better. 2011 was deeper, but 03 was a bit more balanced on offense, and had a more reliable QB situation. I guess it's a matter of resume (2011) vs. who I'd take head to head (03).

you could make an argument for 07, not seeing it with 05. 06 >>>

The 2003 team did get to beat Eli Manning at Ole Miss in his senior season. Another nice accomplishment.

Must have been sweet watching one of the best teams ever. I was in a bar off of St. Charles during Bacchus that night.

side note, Will Ferrell is the King of Bacchus this year.

Just goes to show you how much difference a year makes concerning the 2003 LSU team. I remember the Alabama game at Tiger Stadium in 2002. We got rolled by the Tide 31-0 in one of the ugliest defeats in Tiger Stadium that I've ever experienced. Marcus Randall was Saban's QB.

It seems harsh but I must agree. We had a fantastic team and season, but not the best.

Reminds me of a story I heard about Jim Morris, baseball coach of Miami, when asked who his best teams were. He pointed to their version of the Intimidator and said: "There. Those are the teams that got it done."

The best get it done.

No, because our offense really wasn't consistent all year and we didn't win it all. So its the 03 team.

5 First Downs
92 Total Yds
Crossed Midfield Once and that was with minutes remaining in 4th
0 points

IMHO....This alone negated it for me.
