QB's under Les Miles...by the numbers

In doing an analysis of QB's under Les Miles, almost all have regressed after Year One of being the proclaimed starter for the entire season, with the exception coming in 2006 from Jamarcus Russell. Also, out of Miles 10 years of being a head coach, he has played both a black and white QB during the season in 9 out of 10 years. In 7 out of 10 years, HIS guy has been a black QB. This is not a Black or White thing here, just pointing out trends and yearly progressions/regressions. However, it would definitely be of note that it is 95% likely given the statistics that Miles will play Jerrard Randall next year in some capacity. So Tiger fans, expect to see the near side option continue......

All your "analysis" proves is that Jefferson and Lee aren't very good.

You should add the qb rushing stats, and add rp and Mett stats. Just to get a better idea. And hopefully we will see how much qbs not named jj ran the ball.

it seems to me that he only had 3 QBs start 2 or more consecutive years.....Fields,JR and JJ. or am i looking at this wrong?

#1 overall pick is a pretty good exception, and then the next the QB leads them to the national title

Well since we dont have a returning starter at qb we should be good right?

In order to give me a better analysis of QB's regression at Okie State, I would need to know 2 things:
1. What years did Rashaun Woods and Tatum Bell play? Both of these guys were pretty darn good from what I remember. Woods leaving may reduce # of passing yards, while Bell carries may have increased the rushing yardage.
2. Were Woods and Bell's backups black or white? Trying to figure out any trends.

Lee improved by leaps and bounds from his first year starting to the second year he started...just sayin.

Josh Fields : Looks like he took the job from Aso and progressed into a full time starter
Aso Pogi: Lost job to Fields?
Donavan Woods: Only one season.
Jamarcus Russel: Definitely progressed.
Matt Flynn: Definitely progressed.
Ryan Perrilloux: One year
Andrew Hatch: One Year.
JJ: Stayed the same, some progression.
Lee: Definitely progressed.
Is it just me? I can't find ANY QB's who regressed. I guess you can make the case for Aso, but he just lost his job.

I could go on all day discussing your "analysis" of the QBs who have started for Miles.
However, I'd rather focus on just two things in your opening paragraph.
First, you are the first person in the history of football to reference a "near side" option. This is a new term. Congratulations. The term you were aiming for is "short side" option.
Second, there is nothing inherently wrong with the "short side" option. It's the exact play that launched Ford to a near touchdown in ovetime against Alabama. It's a good play. Only Rantards could turn a good play into a pile of shite meme.
Soooo . . . you appear to be a Rantard who not only doesn't understand football, but who also parrots Rantard memes. Again, congratulations. There's a group of posters who can't wait to adopt you.
You emphasized one clause in the entire opening paragraph. It's right there in bold print: he has played both a black and white QB during the season in 9 out of 10 years. That clause specifically discusses Miles' propensity to use a black and white QB.
But of course, "this is not a Black or White thing" here. You're just pointing out trends and yearly progressions/regressions.
Okay.

So Tiger fans, expect to see the near side option continue......

The majority of your opening paragraph is about black and white QBs, NOT progressions/regressions. (NOTE: I'm giving you a break on the final sentence. Be thankful. It's clearly not about progressions/regressions.)

Heard some guy on the radio last year sometime claim that Miles not only had a general preference for the running QB (as in Jefferson), but he said Miles wanted to be able to say (without even saying) to the recruits that he stuck with the brother, since most of the recruits may not say so publicly, but some (not all) like Miles even more for doing so. I am not saying this is my opinion, as I think he just loves JJ in particular (i susbscribe to the nude pics theory myself ), but perhaps there is a kernal of substance to this guys opinion. Ever since hearing that (some random caller i heard while driving I-10 in Louisiana last year), I have wondered.
I wonder if a young black recruit would actually pay attention to that and use it as a tie-breaker to choose Miles/LSU instead of some other school? It seems this might not matter to most, but maybe to some?
