Has anyone recommended Attack on Titan? Not reading 50 pages to look. It's a really interesting show, and definitely read the manga if you haven't

I've been watching Rosario Vampire and it is very solid. Romantic-Comedy High School genre. I've been pleasantly surprised with it. It's on Netflix

Serious question, what is the difference between anime and cartoons?

Not gonna read 60 pages but I'd like to throw "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" by Hayao Miyazaki into the fray

Just found Lupin the 3rd on Hulu. Watching it for the first time since I was a kid. This show always had me laughing.

I don't know if this has been mentioned but I watched the first season of Attack on Titan and really enjoyed it. Can't wait for season 2.

Finally had the time to finish Psycho-Pass. What a series. Great ending. Akane's transformation throughout the show was extremely well done.

Also, Psycho-Pass Season 2 is releasing in October and a Psycho-Pass movie is coming this winter. They also plan on re-editing and releasing the first season as 11 one hour episodes.

Much to look forward to.

Been watching Tenchi in Tokyo. The Tenchi Muyo! series is incredibly underrated. It has the perfect amount of comedy and drama. I'm going to watch Tenchi Universe next because I haven't seen it since I was a kid. The only thing I hated about Tenchi in Tokyo is how it ended. I wish we could have seen Yugi grow up and see what she would have been like and if Tenchi would have fallen in love with her like he did Sakuya.

I've only seen two anime: "Spirited Away" and something called "Koto no ha no niwa". I have no idea what people think of them, but I rather liked them. Neither indulged in some of the more outre aspects of anime that the average non-anime fan tends to associate with the genre.

So, new rec for this thread.

Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon?

Yea, long name, but if you liked the 1st half of Sword Art Online, this is basically what I think to be a better version of that.

It is only 13 episodes. Released this year, but the 1st season is great.

Check it out if you like the "weakling fights to prove himself and become the hero" storyline.

75 pages and no love for Venus Wars? It's a movie, not a series, but it's worth watching if you've got two free hours. One of the few where the English dub is actually better than the original Japanese, IMO.

A few other things not listed in the OP that I'd recommend (kind of older than most of the stuff in this thread, I think, but still entertaining):

- the older Dominion Tank Police OVAs (explosions, tanks, cat girl sisters with guns) the English dub is sentimentally good, but in a cheesy way)
- the Urusei Yatsura TV series (whacky alien comedy, with Lum) better than the movies IMO, but it's not necessarily a continuous story and there's a hell of a lot of it)
- the Dirty Pair TV series (guns, spaceships, lasers, explosions, girls, etc)

Since we're in the dark period of the year with no football or decent tv I've been going back and watching all the gundam series at work. Currently on Mobile Suit Victory Gundam, forgot just how bleak it gets . Kill-em-all Tomino at his finest.

I just saw the thread so I don't plan to look through 70+ pages but I'm a big Ken Akamastu fan. I've got the entire run on Love Hina and most of A.I. Love You/Negima!

So on that note, my favorites are Mayo Chiki, Tenchi Muyo, Sora No Otoshimono, Kanokon, and Inukami!

In high school I went from comics to anime. My collection got pretty good with a mixture of manga, VHS, DVDs, and books. I have 145 pieces total, with 10 of those being complete series. I even have a promotional VHS of Ranma 1/2. I laugh because every five minutes "NOT FOR SALE! PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY!" scrolls across the screen. Dunno why it is promotional, I know what the guy told me, but I've never been able to confirm.
