How amazing was 2009.............

The frustration of losing last week just goes to show how unbelievable it is when everything comes together and a team makes that Super Bowl run.
I am so happy to have been witness to that unforgettable season for our Saints.
Because honestly, no matter how good we are, there simply is no guarantee that things will ever align that way again.....

It definitely soothes the soul to think about it.
I posted a ring in response to someone saying someone the other day and afterwards I was like :
Damn I still can't believe there is a fleur di lis on that ring.
It brings a smile to my face just thinking about it.

I remember when 8-8 was a successful season.

That was an incredible year. Just an observation, but outside of Brees with his little boy, this is the most prolific photo from that game and all 3 of those guys may be gone next year. I will cherish 2009 always.

Its sad and kind of funny that Will Smith, Porter and Shanle might not be with us anymore

yep, I was thinking the same thing, if I never see it again I will always cherish it.
A coworker is a indy fan and he was going on this morning about the 49er game last week shutting up us saints fans.
"Man 62 points and Tracey Porter still giving you nightmares, huh"
He didn't say much after that.

I get a chubby everytime. The whole experience was amazing. The undefeated start to the season, the playoffs in the dome, beating Brett Favre, the superbowl victory parade in NOLA, Mardi Gras that year....
I have goosebumps typing that.

I remember some of my friends just happy to get to the SB. I kept telling them that these types of seasons don't come around too often. You need everything to bounce your way, and that we needed to finish it right & win the damn thing. I would not have been content with a SB loss that year.
Season's like this make you cherish 09 so much more. You realize how hard it is to win it all even with a record breaking team.

Just to add a little bit to this subject...but it was an awesome Mardi Gras that year being the Super bowl was just one week before---well next year, Mardi Gras is the weekend after the Super Bowl, of which IS IN NOLA! Think of the party that could be next year!

Smith, Porter, and Shanle. One is not like the others (not race related)

Most guys spend their entire careers dreaming of winning the Super Bowl and they don't. The SF loss just puts into perspective just how much needs to happen to win the whole damn thing.
I'll always remember my friend telling me after another disastrous Aaron Brooks season that, "One year everything for the Saints is just going to click." That was 2009.

I had alot of fun that season.
My Grandpa has been a Saint's fan since before
I was born. Which is why I grew up watching them.
I'll never forget the look on that old man's face.
He damn near cried. He just turned and looked at me
and said "boy....did we just win a game that sends us to the superbowl?"
When I actually calmed down enough to talk I said
"yeah, grandpa we did".
That old man just sit there and smiled. That was my favorite part of it I guess.

Just have to be thankful that Caldwell was the coach of the Colts....

There have been some great dynasties. We're on the brink here now. But if not we've risen out of the bog.
Jags, Browns, Lions, & Texans have never been to a Super Bowl except to watch.
Ten other teams have been in a total of 18 Super Bowls that have never won one.
That's 14 franchises that have never tasted what we know Lombardi Gras to be.
