Next year's team should be very good. I actually think the defense will be better. This year, I felt like we did an excellent job of covering for weak LB play. But, it did cause Chavis some problems. Late in the year, the LB play started to improve with Minter really showing up.

I think LB play gets better next year allowing Chavis to run less nickle than he seemed to fell he HAD to do this year.

Offense should probably be better too but I say that with a caveat. I NEVER, repeat NEVER assume a QB is going to be good based upon his press clippings. Until I seem him on a Div 1 gridiron, I will take a wait and see approach.

That isn't a knock on Mett. It's just a reality of college football.

Agreed. But from what we already know about Mett, I'm extremely optimistic. From his awesome Junior College season and a few times he got in the game this season, he looks like the real deal.

Plus he got some great qb coaching while he was in Georgia for a year.

Me too. Last summer, I was excited about this year's team but thought next year was the year. I honestly thought our schedule this year would be too difficult and we'd lose either 2 or 3 games out of Oregon, W. Virginia, Arkansas or Alabama. I hadn't thought about the early entries (Claiborne, Randle, and especially Brockers) but we are still so talented and so deep. I think Landry will turn into a great WR, QT will be steady in the DL rotation, and Jenkins will be a good 3rd CB. I also think Mett will have a very good year.

As I said in another thread, I believe we'll have a good squad, but I worry about the losses of Claiborne, Brockers, Adams, Taylor, Baker, and Brooks. That is a LOT of talent and production to replace on defense.

They just have to show up every chance they get. You know, you can always go be a fan of some other team if you hate the guy so much.

I agree with this, but when you consider what we have done with very average qb play over the last three years, I'm excited about Mett.
The only thing that I think could ruin this season(meaning we win less than 8 games) is if he does something stupid and gets kicked off the team).

Other than that, we are ready to roll. Great schedule helps more than most people realize.
