I'm a coach too, and I know I've learned more from losing than from winning.

I absolutely will not buy into the "team was not fired up" bullcrap. IT'S THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.

He wouldn't know. Ever since that ugly incident at the YMCA locker room a while back, he's banned from all locker rooms.

I have no inside information. In my opinion, I think the biggest single factor was LSU coming out flat because they had to play Alabama again.

Now admittedly Miles was bullheaded and should have put Lee in, though I doubt he would have done much better. But that was an insult to have to play the gumps again. LSU rolled a huge boulder up a hill and got it down the other side on November 5th. Then the voters and the BCS told them that, for a reward, they had to do it all over again and the first win didn't count. Alabama was rewarded for losing.

An equivalent would be for a miler to run a world-record mile. Then, in honor of his great achievement, being told that he had to break the record again immediately for it to count for anything.

College football is supposed to be where "every game counts" and the season is one long playoff. I know, as a fan, I went through the motions but I was flat. I did not feel from the beginning about this game like I did in 2003 and 2007. I'm sure it was the same with the players.

LSU earned the right not to have to play Alabama again when they beat them in their house. No doubt the teams are equal and if they played 10 times, LSU might win 6, or Bama might win 6. But this is not a "series" like the BCS made it. Alabama lost their "national championship" on November 5 in Tuscaloosa.

So, being listless at having to play Alabama again was, in my opinion, the biggest single factor to LSU's terrible showing.

I think the players and the fans had equivalent emotional experiences. I kept telling myself I'd be fired up and excited during game week, but it didn't happen even though I tried to act like it did. The players said they were "motivated" and "fired up" but I think it came down to them feeling a sense of "what's the use" at having to play Alabama again.

Face it gentlemen. We got screwed by the system in 2011. And if any gumps, BCS people or anyone else thinks this is whining, well frick them.

It's only the truth.

lol its not the truth, remember LSU was so good who cared if you had to play the "gumps" again...I recall tons of you LSU fans saying it was going to be a blowout, LSU by 14..blah blah...You realize you're just mad because your team had to play a team who had a pulse on defense, If Oklahoma State took care of business against Iowa St we wouldn't be having this conversation right now...LET IT GO ITS OVER 21-0 HAPPENED...2012 HERE WE COME.

i think we lost because with Jordan Jefferson in the offense consists of 6 plays, Bama saw it all game in the first game and Les miles had the exact same game plan as in the first game so it was easy to defend. bamas defense was just better than anybody elses we played all year and we couldn't out physical them. we got whooped physically and mentally.Lsu's defense played well enough to win the game for sure so no blame there,i thought they played with max effort and determination .It all goes on miles whether something with the offense happened internally or not. Its time to get over it people
