Pure speculation. Thoughts?

LINK

quote:

He was in Atlanta for a week preparing for the Chick-fil-A Bowl. He hired the defensive coordinator of the Falcons the day after their season ended with a wild-card loss in the NFL playoffs.

He spent a long weekend in New Orleans commenting for ESPN on the BCS National Championship Game. The Saints saw their season end Saturday with a crushing divisional playoff loss to the 49ers.

Could Auburn's search for an offensive coordinator end with an assistant from the New Orleans staff? Coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr. perhaps?

My only thing is, doesn't Sean Payton do the playcalling?

Guy has been in the NFL for over a decade.

I doubt he leaves for the same position in the college ranks.

wait, you really think he's going to go from New Orleans Saints OC to Auburn OC?

Really?

So he's just going to stop in for an Auburn interview on the way to Miami to interview for Dolphins HC?

Really?

I think he's going to be a real hot name in NFL coaching circles this off-season, even if Payton was mostly responsible for that offense. A few years ago might have been different.

If it is going to be someone from the Saints, then QB coach Joe Lombardi makes the most sense. He can coach up our QBs and get experience playcalling.

Joe Lombardi

This is the more realistic choice. I would be happy with getting him.

That is my guess and I think it will be made official in the next couple days.

Lombardi would be fine with me. I don't see any way possible we pull the Saints OC.

If you are going to visit a town, you might as well hire a coordinator who lives in that town, amirite?

Stopped reading there.

But then I was intrigued to see how absurd his reasoning was. Come to find out I'm glad I read. This is the most baseless BS this hack has ever written, and that's really saying something.
