None of my Bama friends are gloating. All are asking what happened.

I expected to go back to work and get sand kicked in my face. I am the only LSU fan a lot of people here know and we talk football all the time. Dozens of people have asked me what happened, said how sorry they were, how they were glad to win but didn't want to win like that, asked what happened to LSU, said that was not the team they saw all year, and thought they were drugged, had thrown the game, or something.

Some have even said they have kind of an empty feeling after winning. Now, they are all happy to have won and are not conceding anything, but they are as confused as I am. It has made for some interesting conversations.

I never thought I'd see this.

People keep asking what happened to the LSU team they saw all year. One Auburn fan said that they loved our team and loved the passion and zeal we played with and they couldn't believe it just was not there on Monday.

I'm getting freaking sympathy from Alabama and Auburn fans!

This sucks.

I've been getting the exact same thing. I believe they are just as shocked as us at how it turned out. My buddy actually said he felt bad for me. Should be interesting weekend with all these new rumors going around.

Yeah i got the same thing too. I was expecting a thrashing here in Knoxville, but the Bama fans keep telling me that LSU will be needed to bring the NC next season. This is bad. Sympathy from your rivals.

You know it was bad when Alabama fans were a little embarrassed to win that handily.

I can confer with this. Here in Atlanta, all of my Bama acquaintances have just been asking me why I think Les did what he did. They seem blown away that Lee was never considered when we had 90 yards of offense in the game. There is no gloating at all.

They are speechless.

And so am I.

I have no answers for them other than Les loves JJ.

They are happy they won, but are very confused. I told a bunch of them last night about the rumors and they all believed it. They're asking me to keep them updated. One guy said the championship seems kind of empty.

I've been quick to say that Bama played a great game and were ready and might have won no matter what we did. I refuse to make excuses. Then, they follow it up with, "Yeah, but that wasn't LSU."

It's surreal.

They know LSU gave themselves no chance to win. It was clearly obvious. They will start showing #13 and 14 helmets vice #12 and 13, all the same.

Sound like a lot of you have run into the good Bama fans. I'm sure there are the bad ones too though. Living in NELA, I haven't come across any.

That is because they did not get the game they deserved either. They did not want to beat some yahoo school from nowhere, which how we looked.

Ditto

My office is full of UT, AUB, and Bama fans. All are expressing the same thing. Confusion and sympathy like my grandma died. Really weird.

I have been getting sincere reassurance and pats on the back from usually naturally obnoxious gumps.

That is how sad this situation is right now.

They also haven't been flaming on this board either. They also know this wasn't the same team they played in November.

Now saying that I think how good Bama played Monday night LSU was going to have a real tough time beating them anyway and they deserved to win. Congrats on the NC!

If by drugged, you mean Les downing 60mg of xanax, then I agree.

I agree though, this was not the LSU team out there that night. We are much better than that, something HAD to go down in the locker room or practice.

Same here. Last night at the bar ordinarily angry Bama fans were asking me the same questions.

I'm still in disbelief. I tried drinking it away last night.

I'm pretty nice about all of this other than my big rant thread yesterday, but you will never see me or any other true Bama fan say those things. It was the best feeling in the world to end that game with a goose egg on the other side. Not trying to rub it in honestly, just relaying my emotions about the game. There could have been no better outcome to that game for me.

We had to win that way in order to keep the country from being wishy washy on who the true best team in the country was.

Like I said, not rubbing it in. Just relaying feelings as a true Bama fan.

I've been exchanging trash talking all year between my Gump family in T-Town and expected to hear it after this game, but just the opposite. Really weird kinda quiet half smiles on their faces, dunno

Yeah, I know some good Bama fans. But, I know some arrogant ones too, and even those guys are speechless. It is probably helping that I'm not making excuses. They are telling me about how at their football parties they were cheering but then started noticing LSU's body language and started asking questions. One of the most obnoxious fans I know refused to claim the TD at the end and said he felt bad for the defense that had played a valiant game. I was shocked.
