This fricking team lost to Arizona State by three touchdowns. 6-6 ASU. I understand they have Barkley but that's not enough to give them the #1 spot over LSU or Bama next year.

They have a helluva lot more than just Barkley and most I saw so far were picking LSU #1

His grammar error a side 1 loss to a mediocre team in 2011 has no impact on the quality of the team for 2012.

Im not sure you're giving the dude enough credit... He will be the best QB in the nation next year, better than Landry from OU, and he has the weapons around him to put together a great season. All they need to do is work on that D and they will be a team to watch out for in early January next year. I don't like USC one bit, but Barkley is the real deal.

USC loses to a mediocre team they shouldn't every single year. Why should 2012 be so different. They'll probably lose to someone like Utah or Arizona and won't make the national championship because of it.
I'll take a wait and see approach before I put a Kiffen led USC team at #1 in the nation preseason coming off an ok year.

Is this supposed to be some knock? The same Kiffin who came closest to spoiling Bama's title a few years ago?
Who got USC to 10-2 despite all the bull and young players.
I don't think USC should be #1 but like all the others...they're in the Top 5 discussion...who knows who should be #1? Look at Oklahoma this year...might as well just stick Bama there. At least they won something.

I'd buy it. They'll be solid as hell next year. It will be between them and Oregon and either could go unbeaten.

USC should be very good next year, they just need to stay focused week in and week out. It'll likely come down between them and oregon for the Pac 12. I just wish a couple other teams like UCLA would get better and make it a multiple horse race.

They'll start in the top 3 next year. We'll have to see how the new LT works out though. Doesn't matter how good Barkley is if he's on his back.

The voters NEVER give USC the benefit of the doubt. USC most likely needs to be pre season ranked #1 or 2 to get to the MNC
