Was Les showing the fan base who is boss,by giving up in the fourth, instead of atleast trying Lee? Makes it hard to look forward for me.

If this is all some...stupid arrogant power struggle between les and the fans, then something needs to be done.

im sure ill get roasted for this, but methinks that to an extent, it wasnt worth the risk of having Lee come in and actually get a few first downs and move the ball. Lee probably couldnt overcome that lead with that amount of time left anyhow... so why risk it?
It would invite tremendous criticism and would make Miles look like a fool for not playing him sooner and benching him to begin with, and he would be taking 10x the heat he is right now.
Legit experts would begin to question Miles decisions which would create uncertainty about his future. Its just easier to avoid all that.
Miles knew LSU would sink or swim with Jefferson.
There were no other options.
We sank.

If this is true (and I'm not saying it is -- a big part of me thinks the notion is beyond silly), wouldn't he essentially be letting the fans affect his decisions?
If you're not doing something solely to spite someone that means THAT SOMEONE is affecting your decisions.

Risk what? wtf are you talking about

Ultimately, I think Joe Alleva needs to have a meeting with Les Miles. This would be simply to ask one question: What were you trying to prove out there?
Posted on 1/10/12 at 1:43 pm to BobBoucher
So you're saying he quit.
Posted on 1/10/12 at 1:43 pm to TheDoc
I hate to think that anyone would just give up, but do admit that it looks that way.
Posted on 1/10/12 at 1:43 pm to BobBoucher
Why risk it? Well, that silly national title thing is a good reason to be made a fool I it lee had come in and won

Right. Other than the guy who played almost flawlessly for all but 2 snaps this year.

If a fan could see the loss coming, so could Miles. He probably figured it wasn't worth it to appease the fanbase and put Lee in that spot.
Who the frick knows, though. I'm sure he's more worried about the $1M raise he just lost out on than he is about fan opinions.
I know I would be. $1M a year is a lot of money for anybody. I'd kill most of you in your sleep for a 26% raise over what I'm making right now.

what did you have to lose?
lee couldn't score negative points

So you want a head coach who factors in fan's opinions in his decision making? Really?

If he admitted to thinking this, he'd be fired before the sun went down and deservedly so.

Im saying he quit on Lee
Miles made his decision with JJ long ago, and he wasnt doubling back.

I don't think can argue that Miles didn't quit. Johnnie Cochran couldn't argue that.

this is probably a half-subconscious thought. I dont know that one actually ponders it. It would be more like a natural reaction - resisting being wrong.
