295 batting average, 2,340 hits, 198 homers and 379 stolen bases
the Hall is in a delicate situation... they don't want steroid guys in there, but they shouldn't go the other way and put in Mark Graces and Rick Hellings

THIS
not hall worthy. This diminishes the HOF and everyone in it

Dave Stieb and Bob Welch were better pitchers from that era.
Jack Morris belongs in the Hall of Very Good.
Posted on 1/9/12 at 2:14 pm to stapuffmarshy
You guys are frickIng retarded.

Bagwell robbed again. Hes not getting in because he played in the steroid era and the writers feel like he might have. He was never linked to steroids during his career whether you think he did or did not. Bitches gonna be bitches I guess

Dude was a good player, shouldn't sniff the HOF

Larkin absolutely deserves the HOF IMO
His offensive numbers have been dwarfed by the steroid era of late but he was one of the best players at his position for a decade and a leader and a player who could help his team win with a bat or a glove on his hand
Jack Morris deserves the nod too IMO. Bagwell? marginal, probably not, Lee Smith - IMO more of a stat compiler than a guy who unequivocally deserves a HOF nod

Met Larkin in a vey unusual manner. In the Spring of 1990, my wife and I had sold our house in Lakeland Fl and were having a new home built in Winter Haven Fl. The Reds spring training home was in Plant City FL at that time, which was a short distance away. We arranged for a 7-month lease for an upscale apt. in Plant City and we were actually moving in as the previous tenant was picking up the last of his personal things left there. That tenant was Larkin. Chatted with the guy for an hour or so, told him I was a lifelong Red Sox fan and he immediately brought up the 1975 World Series. He said he was a kid then growing up in Cincinnati and he remembered every detail of that series. The Reds were breaking camp, heading north, and I thought it was great the guy took time to talk baseball with a complete stranger like that.

of course you'd say that... he got 62.1% last year. did he get a single hit, HR, plate appearence, putout, assist since then?
no so i don't see how his case should have got better
of course the writers didn't put in babe ruth unanimously so they have proven to be bitches

The election process is stupid. Barry Larkin wasn't good enough to be in the hall of fame last year but this year despite no difference in his career accomplishments, he's a hall of famer?
This first ballot, second ballot shite is asinine. These guys are either hall of fame players or they're not.
