I'm going to recap what he said in case you don't feel like watching the entire video.

10. LaDainian Tomlinson- Not only because he was a prolific touchdown scorer with the San Diego Chargers. Because he went to the New York Jets and proved that he was the best back on that team also at an advanced age.

9. Lenny Moore- He will not be on anybody's top 10 list for yardage or anything like that but the reason why Lenny Moore belongs in the top 10 running backs of all-time is very simple. On a great team, one of the great teams really of all-time, the Baltimore Colts of the '50s and '60s, he was the most dangerous weapon there was. You handed him the ball and when you gave him the ball in space, he always made something happen.

8. Emmitt Smith- How can the leading rusher of all-time be #8 on this list? Well because I think that a lot of his yards that he got were garbage time yards late in games that Jimmy Johnson allowed Emmitt Smith to get because Emmitt Smith wanted to break all the records. That's not being critical of Emmitt Smith. Hey, I applaud the guy for wanting to leave footprints but I don't think that he's better than any of the guys I put above him.

7. Marion Motley- This is a homage to my friend and mentor Paul Zimmerman who always thought that Marion Motley in his time, late '40s, '50s was the best big back who ever played the game of football and if you watched him, you saw "hey, what is that big guard playing in the backfield?" This guy was impossibly hard to bring down and unfortunately the NFL never really saw all of his greatness because he got hurt early in his NFL career.

6. Red Grange- People probably have only seen very grainy photos of Red Grange or footage of Red Grange from the old newsreels but what was really great about Red Grange in the '20s is he was the first really big star that the NFL had. They chased Red Grange and they desperately wanted him to come and play in the NFL. He had a barnstorming tour around America that was the first real exposure of people in America to big-time football and Red Grange when he got to the NFL still had enough left in him to be an electrifying game-changer.

5. Gale Sayers- Gale Sayers, unfortunately for him didn't play long enough to really distance himself from the competition but the reason that I loved him is that every time you saw him handle the ball, he was a threat to go all the way; once scored six touchdowns in one game. He still holds the National Football League record for kick return average in one season. He's the only guy over 30 yards in a season in NFL history.

4. Barry Sanders- Without any doubt in my opinion, the most electric runner ever to play in the NFL and he also ran between the tackles more than people give him credit for, had a lot of negative yardage carries but he also had I believe more 20-yard plus carries than any running back in NFL history.

3. O.J. Simpson- I don't care what happened to O.J. Simpson late in his life and I don't care where he is right now. All I know is that when he played for the Buffalo Bills behind a very good offensive line, he was the most exciting football player for a decade in the NFL and he made things happen when there was space. He made things happen when there wasn't space.

2. Walter Payton- I love the fact that Walter Payton had a slow start to his NFL career because I believe that it made him a lot hungrier and when you look at what Payton did especially later in his career in becoming a great runner not only between the tackles but he had the speed to run outside. He was the most feared player for the Chicago Bears at a time when they really started to become great in the early to mid '80s.

1. Jim Brown- To watch Jim Brown was to watch a strong safety or maybe a smaller tight end with all the athletic ability of anybody in the game playing running back. He took on linebackers and ran over them. He took on defensive backs and ran around them and then beat them to the end zone. The best combination of physicality and speed by far at the running back position in NFL history. Retired in 1965 after being the MVP of the league because he wanted to be an actor and imagine how great if he played another three or four years and how far above everybody else he could have put the records. That didn't matter to Jim Brown. I think he played long enough to be considered the best running back of all-time.

While I don't agree 100% with the list, I think it's one of the better ones I've seen. If I had to do one add/drop, I'd put Marshall Faulk on there in place of somebody, probably Moore. And if we're really nitpicking, I'd swap Sanders' and Payton's positions.

It's actually a great list but I find it pretty stupid the way he had to drop a negative on Emmitt. And yeah, like Jimmy leaving him in a few games late during all 3 or 4 years he happened to coach him, really made a huge difference in him getting a record. Why did he have to bring something so fricking stupid up. He can't just leave it at he's number 8 on my list and he owns the all time rushing record? How do you call any yards a RB gains "Garbage yards?" That's what you do with an RB, you grind out the end of games and run down the clock. Why not leave your stud Rookie or 2nd year guy in if he's feeling healthy?

A great list. But what he said was a FACT. He did say a negative about Sanders and I don't see anyone butthurt about that.

Moore was very underrated or forgotten today. He and Unitas made the colts offense. He could do it all.

Jimmy Johnson coached Emmitt from 90-93. Emmitt played until 2004!

He gained about 5700 of his 18,000+ yards under Jimmy Johnson, around 30%.

nothing makes me happier than being on the other side of your arguments Peej. And he didn't say anything real negative about Barry Sanders, he's saying he had a lot of carries for minus yards which is true. He basically came out with a weird/false opinion about Emmitt considering how irrelevant those games he stayed in under Jimmy were, probably resulting in like 100 "garbage" yards vs the other 18,000+.

LaDainian Tomlinson should be slightly higher. Also Marshall Faulk should be on the list. Other than that, it's fairly decent.

Sanders could have set a record that Smith would not have broken had he continued to play. I give the edge to Sanders because his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield.PLUS OVERALL he played with players not as good as payton had.

I think as a raw talent, Sanders is number one. Depending on how career achievements factor into the list, however, changes that.

Put it this way: If you were drafting a team and you had all these guys in their primes for 10 guaranteed years, who do you pick?

Using "COULD HAVE" in an argument about RB's is RIDICULOUS. yeah, he could have BROKE HIS NECK in the first game of the season had he not RETIRED. It's ABOUT what you DID, not what YOU COULD HAVE DID!!!!!!! OK PUNK boy!!!!!!!!!

if anything I'd challenge Payton not being number 1 overall. I certainly wouldn't drop him any spots.
