Have y'all started thinking about what to cook for the Big Game? I'm thinking lots of appetizers, maybe some sandwiches and plenty of beverages ... stuff that's easy to eat while watching the game. But I don't have a definite menu.
What do y'all have? Gimme some inspiration!!!

usually just finger foods, dips and the such. BTW, you can mix Blue corn chips and yellow ones for a nice display of colors...

Good idea on the chips.
I'm also trying to come up with some sort of purple drink or purple shot, just to be festive, in case anyone out there has any ideas.

Also, just tried the Frank's red hot Buffalo chicken dip I got off one of the dip threads on here for New Years... that dip is awesome... Purple drink, try the Purple Hawaiian punch, maybe with some rum or Vodka if you want an "adult" punch... If you make it in a punch bowl, don't know how much it would effect the flavor, but some frozen OJ cubes would be Purple and Gold Punch... just brainstorming some Ideas for ya... hope they are helpful...

How about serving up some elephant ears for after dinner treats and tint the cinnamon sugar to add flare?
Maybe you could do some beignets. You could even color your confectioners sugar both purple and yellow in a blender to jazz it up if you like.

I had forgotten about that buffalo chicken dip... I've never had it but heard it was good.
My nephew asked if I was serving some sort of elephant since I usually try to base my menu on who we're playing.
My future son-in-law called today. He went hunting and has me 10 ducks, so I think in addition to some appetizers I'm going to attempt a duck and andouille gumbo. I usually make a great gumbo but have never cooked duck. I found a recipe in the TD recipe book so gonna go with that one.
And to those who will be there, I am JEALOUS!!
My hubby doesn't wanna pay $3-4k to bring me!!
Thanks for the suggestions!! It's getting close! I'm so excited!!!!

Finger foods work the best and most can be made ahead of time so you can relax. Check out the box of Bisquick, there is a recipe for sausage balls. It's really only bisquick, shredded cheese and ground sausage. It's super easy and by damn they're deliciousness.

I'm doing BBQ beef in the crock pot. Picked up a briskit on sale about a month ago, will thaw it out and cook it Sunday, that way I just need to chop it up and dump it in the crock pot Monday after work. Will probably have some chips and dips to go along with it.

I think I am leaning towards soft shell crabs and BBQ shrimp.

My last dog stole a chew toy like the one in your pic. In eight years the only damage done by him was a hole in one of the ears. It was his most priced possesion.

What about a shot of purple Hawaiian punch mixed with goldschlager? Even though I don't think it will taste good haha
