I have a thread on here somewhere with lots of details, but in short, this is my first year as a falconer.
My bird hasn't been doing great, with just a couple of squirrels and a couple of "misc." to date. But finally today she spotted this big cottontail and ran him down from behind. I was beginning to think she didn't have it in her. She nearly catches stuff every time we go out, which is about 5 times a week. Hopefully she's catching on now.

Easy.
Read all about it. Contact your state club. Go tag along with someone a few times. Study, study, study. Beg someone to be your sponsor. Contact your state department of wildlife. Build a mews (hawk house) and weathering yard. Set up a test date. Study some more. Take the test. Have your facilities and equipment inspected. Wait for your permit. Trap a hawk. Train it. Go hunting. You'll be an apprentice for 2 years before getting your general license. Simple.

I don't have any hunting videos (there are lots on youtube) but here's one of her coming down to the lure.

just don't let your hawk cross into my lease. Leash or no leash that will be one dead hawk.

Work a deal for a place to let her hunt?
79 north or mountaintop...take your pick.

Wait a damn minute.
Admittedly, I'm dumb when it comes to this. I just assumed they had people that bred them.
But you trap your own fricking hawk??????????
How the hell do you do this?

I'm a nice guy, but you'll find yourself in jail.
