Where is the best place to park by the arena.
Going to my first game Friday night and was wondering.

I usually park on the street in the warehouse district around St. Charles and Girod and then walk the 5 or so blocks to the game. Its free if you get there after 6 (if not you have to pay the meter which is still pretty cheap) and it is really easy to get out after the game. Or if you want to have a drink after then there are some nice bars in the area.

Across from the Dome, under the Interstate.

I usually park at Loyola and Poydras next to City Hall.

What Spudly said. Right across the interstate there's a parking lot on Lafayette St. It's a really short walk to the Arena, it's free, and other people park there. I've parked at my friends house on St. Charles and Girod but it's not worth the walk honestly.

Across from the 'Dome under the interstate is the correct answer.
I park there for all Saints/Hornets game and have no problems.
It's a short, 3-5 minute walk, to the Arena, there's a cop there before/after the game, and there's absolutely no traffic.
It's free also.
Just go down Claiborne and you'll run right into it, right next to Home Depot.

Coming from out of town. How do I get to the lot under i10. Coming from baton rouge and I see the lot every time but never know how to get to the entrance. What exit from i10 and what street is entrance to lot on. Thanks.

This, free parking and pre game beers

Honestly this just isn't worth it. Like I said, one of my best friends lives on St. Charles and Girod so if I'm going to the game with him I park there. You're almost never parking after 6, so it isn't free. It's a much longer walk than under or across I10, and it takes a little longer to get out.

I guess to each his own. I typically park there bc I'll get some pregame drinks and like to be away from the congestion under the interstate. The most it will cost is $3 for the meter to park and that's if u get down there @ 4pm for a game. I also find it easier to get out bc there is no traffic getting to interstate.
I don't mind a little walk to avoid crowded spaces.

Word. But there's never a crowd where I park. On Lafayette St. on the other side of Claiborne. Usually a few people around so you don't feel isolated but never more than a handful or two.

yea, that's a great spot to park

when you are heading eastbound approaching the superdome on the ponchartrain expressway, stay towards your right on i10. The first exit will be Superdome exit. When you get to the bottom of the off ramp at the light, thats Claiborne Ave. Take a right, then go to the next street, and take another right. You'll see the cars.

Thanks a lot. I think I know where you're describing.

its pretty simple. Once you get near the Superdome, the interstate will split.
i10 is to the right
if you stay left, you end up on the westbank.
the Superdome exit is the 1st exit off of i10 at that point.

There's normally a security tower in that area for Saints games. Not sure if it's there for Hornets games though.
