No..Definately Casanova

Well - that wasn't the question, at least not as I read it.

If the question was: "Who was the best LSU football player in history?" - then the answers are, realistically, Cannon, Casanova or Kevin Faulk, just based on the body of work at LSU. Guys like Stovall, Faneca, Dorsey, Peterson - it's just tough to put any of them ahead of the top 3, likewise for Tittle, Jones or J. Russell as none of our QBs have loomed as large as any of the top 3.

But the question was "come out of", which, to me, meant what kind of football player were they as a pro - I think Taylor and Tittle are the clear 1 and 2 at this point, with an opportunity for some guys like Faneca and Mawae to make an argument.

But, based on the wording, different questions.

Cannon won a Heisman and he's a legend....but 1,867 yards rushing in 3 years isn't any more impressive than being a 3X AFL All Star.

YA Tittle had some impressive stats and was a 7-time Pro Bowler when the NFL had between 10 and 14 teams.

Jim Taylor also had some impressive pro stats and was a 5-time Pro Bowler.

Van Buren....same thing....impressive pro stats and 7 Pro bowls in 8 NFL seasons

....but I more impressed with the number of Pro Bowls Faneca (9) and Mawae (8) acheived in a 30 team NFL in addition to all of their college accolades.

This is prolly way too old school for most of you but Leonard Marshall was a beast. A Louisiana native, he helped beat the Bear (who recruited him and lost) in the Bear's last year at Bama in '82. He went on to a great NFL career, including two Super Bowl wins, including knocking Joe Montana silly (forget the year) on the way to one of those Super Bowl wins.

LINK

I'm not sure if he's the best ever, but he instantly pops in my mind when this discussion comes up.
