He really looked pulled together in the Ralph Lauren outfit he wore for the Home Depot awards on Thursday.

One thing I noticed is how well spoken Montee Ball and Robert Griffin III(RG3), were at the Heisman ceremony. I hope that Mathieu heard it, too. Mathieu is going to be giving a lot of interviews in the next decade and beyond, and he really needs to enunciate more clearly, and lose the "ya..knows". He's a standout player, and people will want to hear what he says, and how he says it. Just sayin'.....

99% of the time, a person's diction and grammar are learned at home and the environment they grew up in. Trent Richardson speaks the way I would expect a person to speak who was raised in the projects and never knew his father. And didn't I hear Mathieu infer he was adopted? On the other hand, RGIII and Ball were likely raised in environments similar to The Cosbys and we already know Luck is a son of privilege.

I didn't care for the suit...the heisman ceremony is a very conservative and traditional event and the pimpadelic look just doesn't work (I didn't see anyone else in the room with that kind of shite on)....

overall, I'd say he represented us very well, though....

It's simply an observation. I'm not trying to start an argument. If Mathieu wants to make commercials, or do anything connected to television following his career, he's going to have to be easily understood. That's all I was trying to get across. He's a dynamic individual, and people are going to want to employ him. Talking will be a big part of it.

I was just rewatching the Heisman show and I noticed that both of RGIII parents' names were preceded by Sgt. As I was saying earlier, the apple doesn't fall for from the tree.

too late. you've now been labeled a racist hatah.

anyone remember hearing Jerry Rice speak when he first joined the 49ers? It was brutal. He has always been a class act, but his speech was heavy MS valley state. The Niners invested in some speech work for him and he improved quite a bit in a couple of years. To the point where he could get some speaking endorsements. He still has that little twinge of it left, but nothing compared to it initially.

Rice figured out quickly there was NFL money, and then there was endorsement money. And, yes, there is also a portion of respect you get when you can articulate and speak proper English.
