I don't see it recommened very much on here, but I ate there a few weeks back and thought it was pretty damn good. I got the rack of lamb that was hittin and the GF got the trout with ocean sauce which was damn good too. I thought everything was fairly priced.
Is it because they don't take reservations, you have to mingle with the hipsters while you wait, or people just don't care for it?

I ate there a few months ago and loved the food.

My only minor complaint is the layout. There is no waiting area and it just gets crowded/hectic and backed up in a hurry. The A/C doesn't work as well as it should in the summer.

Those are minor issues. It is a great funky little place.

Shhhhhhhhh...Adolpho's is a hidden treasure. Always great food, moderate prices.

Ah now I see hah.

We did have to wait about an hour to be seated which wasn't too bad because they had a decent band downstairs. Bartender downstairs was cool, but he was in no hurry.

Service at Adolfo's was great though. Server was spot on.

Maybe I should edit title to "Question answered"

This is what makes me want to send people for a great N.O. mid-level dining experience. Of course, it can't be uptight midwestern type of folks.

Music downstairs before or after, and then a trip to Spotted Cat or DBA after dinner is a huge plus.
The old lady bartender downstairs actually recommended my friend and I do a shot of jaegermeister after dinner to help our food digest. I'm sure she was joking, but we went along with it anyway.

I'm a Cosmo neat kinda guy anyways. I think we're good. But you're right, no eye contact. Don't want people judging me.

I love the place. Eat there once a month (but I live within a block of it). Best bet is to avoid prime time weekends, and you will not have much of a wait. Only real complaint I ever have is that the wine list could be expanded. But, they let me bring in a bottle, and don't charge me a corkage fee, so its a minor issue. Lamb and fish with ocean sauce are great. Not normally an escargo fan, but love the way they fix it.

I wouldn't hesitate to send people that could enjoy that atmosphere. Just not a place for the, "I need food now" crowd.

that's funny. I'm pretty sure our bartender was tokin it up in the back. If he wasn't, he had many times before.

Seems like it comes up pretty much any time any one asks about Italian places.

Which isn't often I guess.

Definitely not a cuisine people think about when thinking about NOLA, but I wouldn't hesitate to send an out of towner there for a NOLA type dining experience.

As long as the Tom Collins isn't pink, that's all you have to worry about.

yeah waited 90 minutes for a table and had to sit in the cramped Apple bar, but had a good time and a great meal.

I had the Veal chop Marsala, and my date had the Veal with Ocean sauce and we split the Escargot.

If you aren't getting the muscles as an appetizer, you're doing it wrong!

Excellent food... Long wait.

I had them as an app actually. Just forgot to state that. They were good. I prefer Luke, as they were steamed a slight bit too long, but still good. Also had an oyster app that was pretty good too.
Still amazes me Adolpho cranks that food out by himself. He has to lose 5 lbs a night.

Is it owned by Adolfo Garcia (Rio Mar/La Boca)?
