Well you probably wouldn't know it but they already added a new jumboton on the north side but most of it is ads so it's hard to tell. But I was actually thinking of the same thing concerning the south side.

I realize that. I'm just not as big a proponent on having a huge jumbotron like most stadiums and I think it would make a lot more sense to just put nicer screens and speakers on both sides of the uppers.

It's far down on my list though, just noting.

Leave it to LSU fans to complain about improvements, I only hope this sit doesn't represent the majority of the fan base. 12-0 and there is constant bitching, improving the stadium and there is bitching

Yeah because spending millions on a championship plaza and tacky "TIGER STADIUM" sign really improve the overall fan experience. If you've ever been to BDS you would understand how far TS has to go and realize how dumb and wasteful these "improvements" are.

I've been to Bryant Denny. I think the improvements are a great start.

I sat in the south upper at BDS for the Bama game this year and those little displays are terrible from up there. LSU needs to get rid of the ads on the new one. New speakers are definitely a need to. I can't here shite in the SS

Another poster said here it was already under construction contract.

Personally will be surprised if they leave a gap in the bowl. Also surprised it's going to stay less than 100k

I'm hoping for this...

As cool as that looks, it won't look cool when it's only filled for one game a year.

Yes, barf-inducing indeed. Seriously i dont want a damn horse shoe like ohio state. We only need a smaller addition (5000-7000 seats) anyway

It's difficult to have TS have an entrance like BDS due to the stadium not having much room around it. It's almost right on Nicholson. Personally I like these improvements. The wrought iron gates in place already are much better than the chain link.

The columns and new wrought iron gates along with the champions plaza look sick! Not sure how I feel about the giant TIGER STADIUM sign on top though.

To the poster who said it doesn't match the rest of the stadium. Have you not noticed that TS is the ONLY building on campus that looks vastly different that the rest?? Making those columns with the same brick as the rest of campus would tie it in much better with the Italian Renaissance style.

i am an architect in louisiana. that doesn't make my opinion any more meaningful than anyone elses, but i have to say im a bit let down by these proposed "improvements".

my main criticism is that the large yellow font "tiger stadium" is cheezy, and I really dislike the arched steel structures at the wrought iron gates outside - with the tiger logo in a circle at the top and a sloped canopy at the spring line of the arch. it is overkill and to me looks horribly unrefined.

and just so you know - i am not impossible to please. I think the look of the north facade with the new clean windows contrasted with the historic cast-in-place concrete (showing the actual imprints of the boards used to frame it all up) is magnificent. truly awesome look.

aside from seats/south endzone expansion, i think TAF should focus their efforts on refurbishing the "guts" of tiger stadium around the dorm area. improving traffic flow to and from bathrooms. etc.

the crap shown in these renderings is awful

I've thought since they did renovations on the west side that they need to do more there. It's the very first thing you see of the stadium when driving on Nicholson and one of the main entrances. It looks extremely plain right now and something needed to be done.

As for the sign, these are only renderings. Maybe they'll give it a classic look and it'll turn into something decent. I'd rather it say Death Valley personally though if they're gonna do it

As has been noted many times, Alleva is planning the SEZ addition to be more about suites than seats. This is to alleviate the ten year waiting list for new suites.

No Tiger Stadium suite lease has ever been allowed to lapse.

Also, the first proposals for the SEZ addition were already reviewed and rejected by Alleva. He told the architects to come up with a plan that didn't involve road work.

You'll still have a 10 year waiting list as soon as the new suites get leased.

That is not a bad thing though.

I'll slit my wrists if thats the case. This whole proposal just needs to be toned down. Its too theme park-ish. Having arches AND canopies over the gates is just too much. And whats up with all the damn flags

And dont get me started again on the goofy "TIGER STADIUM" sign on top

I could not agree more.

Why don't they just have balloon stands right next to the gates while they're at it?

I like the idea of new gates and getting rid of all the chain link.
Tiger stadium is concrete and a giant block of it. Throwing stucco on it and brick to make it work looks cheap and aesthetically embarrassing and don't get me started on the Toy R' Us sign on top...

I mean seriously, who designs this and says this is awesome. It looks like 8th graders won a contest to design the stadium using Sims software. I think the bathrooms, ramps and seating area should be upgraded then move on to the seating addition. The entire west side looks so bad and should address that next....
