Apples to oranges. GB won last year at what 10-6? Saying ALA shouldn't get a rematch may be valid, but using the professional system to support it is not.
And then on top of that it's starting to look like some fans are crying about it. We beat them once as a road dog, now we may face them as semi-home favorites. This team will, and has beaten all comers.

I am only using the NFL angle to show that 2 teams from the same division don't advance...only one does

Why, because I am make too much sense?

Well, they are swaying a lot of voters are they not?
You really think OSU gets in if they handle OU?
Assuming LSU beat UGA of course...
I take nothing for granted...LSU has to play well to beat UGA

So tired of hearing about the NFL/MLB/NHL/AFL/CFL/etc. This is college football. There is an unique system. It doesnt compare to any other sport.

How about the Giants and NE
That's actually a great one to point out why I'd never EVER want that type of system in college football.
Traditionally, we have gotten a National Champion at the end of the college football season that was sort of a crowning of the best team for the whole season. For a LONG time, it was strictly a beauty pageant with pollsters determining it in total, and without the ability to have top ranked teams play each other because of differing bowl tie-ins.
And then came the BCS.
We now have a system that allows for the traditional ranking of teams by pollsters (plus computers) but we are now not locked in to being given ONE team by the press as THE Champ. We have gotten a mini-playoff between two of the teams considered to be the best. It has, largely, protected the sanctity of the regular season while allowing for a championship match-up between two teams that may have a claim on the title. For all it's flaws, and I think there are many, I think it's the best system available...assuming you want to keep in tact what we've all loved out THIS sport.
On the other hand, we could scrap the whole thing, drop the ranking system through the year, set up a playoff system of some sort, lose the greatness of the regular season much like the NFL, NBA and college basketball and play simply to get into the post season...as system that can give you the Giants over the Pats or Villanova over Georgetown back in 1985 after G-Town had beaten them three times during the year.
They are both workable systems...I'm just not in favor of doing that to college football.

They also have a playoff system in place. Not an every week counts system
Every week does count.
Most pollsters said that Alabama had a very tenuous hold on their #3 spot even.
Then ALL of the other contenders lost.
Folks seem to be forgetting that important point.

I agree...I like the system over all...heck half the fun is fight over this stuff...but! it needs to work out so that it makes sense for the Nation, not the SEC power houses
How could this system allow Alabama in over other teams around the country with the same record yet having more top 25 victories?
I love the SEC, but come on...there is nothing National about this if LSU vs. Alabama play again after LSU plays UGA
It's retarded...no matter how good Alabama is or isn't...It's retarded to play them again in the title game
I would rather play them in the SEC title game
That would make more sense..but they are from the same division, so that can't happen..which means Alabama is out of luck if we are using your arguments
Protect the regular season, put the best 2 teams against one another in the MNC bowl game

It was also being referred to as a national championship semifinal. The loser would likely not win division or conference. It was billed as an elimination game.
If it's not a playoff, it makes no sense that we have to beat them in a winner take all game, when we had to go in to BDS and won already. I think we would beat them again anyway, but how they go over a team that won the best conference this year is ridiculous. And there is no argument that the SEC is better than the Big 12 top to bottom. Our top is stronger, yes. But our bottom is much weaker.

I didn't forget, so the timing of the loss is the final verdict of #2? NO!
Bama fans say "They (OSU, OU, Stanford, Oregon) didn't take care of their business, we did"
LOL! Alabama lost at home to #1.... nuff said.., they didn't take of business when they had the best opportunity to do so.

Like I said, I can see both sides of this argument. It's just what we've become accustomed to in terms of each sport.
There's a REASON we don;t freak out when we see three teams for the ACC or Big East in the Final Four and don't go running around declaring how they can't be NC's because obviously not all of them when the conference. It's because we've always done it that way. We'd see it as a travesty is Duke and UNC could not both be in the tournament because you couldn't have a non champ win the title.
We just don;t see it that way in D1 football, and I'm perfectly fine with that. I've always looked at the NC in college football as being the best team that year...not the one that got hot at the end and won out.
Both are systems that can give you a valid result...I just to like the playoff route for D1 football. I think it would change game to a point that would make it unrecognizable from what e have today. Some may very well prefer that...I'd vote against it.

You are a fricking embarrassment to LSU, yourself, your family, and the goddamn entire human race. Please fricking kill yourself. Pretty please.
seriously, why do you have to make these kinds of comments.
I could go on ESPN and splatter this so called embarrassment and get 85% of America to agree with my logic as if they don't already. But ESPN wants this rematch most likely because they conceded the first game to CBS... I realize it would be an awesome game... but there are other deserving teams.
You think it's right for Alabama to sit while LSU earns the right to play in the MNC then so be it
Frankly, that line of thinking is an embarrassment to my intelligence.... and that's why I am speaking out about it...

Who said anything about timing?
When Alabama lost, they lost the driver's seat to the title game.
Just because all of the other contenders also lost, possibly giving that role back to Alabama, folks seem to like to pretend that Bama never lost it....
