Guys,
i have gone back anf forth on this forever. i wash all my clothes in no scent soab and but them up with scent block dryer sheets, use scent block shampoo, soap, deoradnat and spray down before ever going into woods, keep gloves or under gloves on at all times, use scent block hats, ssent block wafers, etc. I just don't use the block underwear or camo suits as I just don't think I need that too and they seem expensive .
We saw 17 deer first day including 6 bucks. Can anyone tell me if they really think it makes a difference, and if so what is best deal on this stuff.

Most ppl will say to just play the wind right and you don't have to worry about it. However, mature bucks will circle your stand and end up down wind at some point and the scent blocker suit will help in that instance. If you have the money then get one.

I think it's a gross waste of money.
Keep your first layer tight against your body, and if you do what you described you should be fine.
spending 80-100 on scent block under armour shite is stupid imo

How bad do your balls stink that you would need this?

I could see an advantage bow hunting. Rifle hunting I wouldnt worry about scent to much.

I'll never buy any of it. I hunt in jeans and a carhartt jacket 90% of the time and still kill my share of bucks.

Lots of deer were killed long before any of this junk was created.
I spray down before going to the stand, but I think that's enough.

Me: Use scent eliminating detergent on clothes, hang dry outside if possible, use scent block shampoo, soap and deodorant. All camoflage and usually a face mask.
Dad: Hunts in blue jeans and whatever buttonup shirt is fairly clean (all washed in regular Tide), always wears an orange hat, even in a box stand.
Dad always kills more deer.

It helps to a degree.
The newer styles that help eliminate /reduce bacteria are probably a better deal if they do what they say. Bacteria on the skin is what causes human scent". ScentLok claims it absorbs this odor, and when new I believe it does to a degree. However a class action lawsuit by hunters/chemists proved that their products cannot be "rejuvenated " at normal dryer temps as claimed. But I do think they help, as do the silver lined suits.
Now none of this helps if you don't take care of the rest of your gear, but it sounds like you do.
Also I would lose the scent wafers. Nothing will cover up the human scent to a whitetail. So to a mature buck instead of smelling like a human, you will just smell like a human with Earth scented wafers.
You can't kill human scent with these miracle products. However you can reduce your scent significantly. As a bowhunter this is much more important than to a rifle hunter. With these products, and a good regime of scent free clothes, rubber boots and clean gear you effectively reduce your scent and thus decrease the range at which a whitetail will detect you downwind. Of course you should always use wind direction to your advantage, but if it does momentarily swirl or if big boy circles you downwind (which they very often do) he won't pick you up until he's in bow range or thereabouts, as opposed to whiffing your scent 150 yards away and you never even getting the chance to draw on him.
Just my two scents.......

Quality post. I'm not as strict on my regime as I should be. If buying the suit cuts some of the effort out of it then I'm game.

NO, just make the wind your friend.

Thanks everyone for your input. I guess I am willing to try the bacteria reducing long johns if I get them on sale. (LOL)
Let me share this with you. One of the old timers i hunt with uses pine scent car wafers from the dollar store and has for years. Kills a lot of big bucks. He swears by it, and we are not even in pine thickets.
Also, I carry this bacteria reducing spray product called sniper. I have no financial interest in it at all not sure where to even get it but a salesman gave me some last year to try out as was supposed to help with pet stains etc. They claim it can hide scent of piss even from a deer as it breaks down bacteria at once, and that a lot of hunters use this.
Last year right before it got dark my 11 year old had to take a leak. So after waiting two hours in the stand I thought great now we are done. We walked a few hundred yards down wind and both took healthy leaks at this point as I thought might as well. I remembered the Sniper and sprayed it all over the piss. Went back to the stand just for the hell of it. Within ten minutes there were deer all over us and my son shot a cull buck. (Assist shot really) Usually if you piss anywhere at our camp area is dead for days. So this crap might actually work after all. I keep a little spray bottle with me in the stands etc now. (Sometimes despite best effort I have to go too)
Should work on BO too on those damn hot days but not tried it. I think it is about five dollars or something a bottle. Anyway, just passing that along.
Thanks again, and geaux Tigers!
