...that you had at Poboy Fest today?

I liked the Oyster Rockefeller Poboy from Palace Cafe and the Thanksgiving Poboy from Parkway.

The Thanksgiving poboy had turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce and gravy. The Rockefeller poboy had all the traditional ingredients of Oysters Rockefeller with fried oysters served on French bread.

Rockefeller was legit.

Softshell crab from Ninja was good.

Crab cake poboy from Katie's was awful.

Strollers and bikes were in full force again this year. Most of the food was the same, too.

I enjoyed the Godfather Po-Boy from Vincent's. It had meatballs, Italian sausage and brisket topped with marinara, parmesan and basil.

$9 for a six incher. Expensive but good. At noon the line was one block long. I got mine at 10:30 with a nominal wait.

Emeril's pork cheek with slaw poboy was good also.

The line was already a block long at 11:00 so I didn't wait around for it.

1) seafood mirliton soup from Sammy's Food Service: favorite item of the day

2) catfish poboy from Al's By The River: catfish was extra crispy and the filet was nice and big. put a little hot sauce on and it was good to go.

3) oysters rockefeller from Palace Cafe: damn good. spiced well. oysters were a little too greasy.

4) confit pork cheek poboy w/ tangy coleslaw from Emeril's Delmonico: nice and fatty. coleslaw wasn't tangy as advertised

my favorite usually in the meat category

I also like the Lobster

the ninja softshell crab

and the pork boucherie.

I think next year one of us will get the VIP pass and just be the po-boy getter. $150 is steep but if a group all puts in a little then its not that bad.

Dang, wished I had gotten that ninja softshell crab. Wouldn't of had room but I wish I would have tried. I enjoyed the oyster rockefeller which I like others thought was a touch too spicy but it was still really good. Also had the crab/shrimp bisque from Jack Dempsey's which was good.

I had:

C&J Catering
Creole Stuffed Crab Po-boy
A

Coquette
Cochon de lait po-boy with collard green slaw
B+ (I wasn't a fan of cucumbers in the collard green slaw but then again, I don't like cucumbers all that much)

Jacques-Imo's
Fried Green Tomato with Shrimp Remoulade
A+ Delicious as ususal.

I went with a bunch of friends, and we tried a ton of the po-boys there. We would eat a bite or 2 of each. Here are my favorites:

Boucherie
• Pulled pork po-boy with purple cabbage slaw
(Best Pork by far, slaw was awesome)
• BBQ shrimp po-boy
(Really good sauce)

Red Fish Grill
• Roasted pork belly po-boy, with roasted poblano pepper coleslaw, fried green tomatoes, Tabasco mayonnaise and pork jus
(Good, but the belly was burnt on the one I had. Would have been great if not)

Palace Café
• Oyster Rockefeller po-boy
(Awesome)

Sammy's Deli on Elysian Fields
• Ray-ray po-boy (fried chicken breast, Chisesi ham & swiss)
(Really good, had a creamy dijon mustard sauce)

Vaucresson Sausage
• Crawfish sausage po-boy
(Sausage was really good, didn't need to be on a po-boy though)

Jacques-Imo's
• Fried Green Tomato & Shrimp remoulade
(Good, but not a huge fan the cold remoulade on a poboy)
• Slow cooked Duck
(Good, prepared like a roast beef poboy)

Ninja's
• Softshell Crab
(Awesome)
• Yakiniku (Ribeye and vegetables w/ spicy garlic soy)
(Awesome)

There were a few disappointments
:

Grand Isle: seemed like they didn't even try this year compared to what they had last year.

Coquette: I love the restaurant, but the po-boy lacked flavor. The pork was bland.

Emeril's: Good, but they made the same thing last year.
