How can anyone claim they deserve a shot?

How can anyone claim they deserve a shot without winning their conference? Does this mean LSU deserves a shot even if they lose to ARKANSAS? This is a damn sham! If you aren't the conference champ, how can you be the BCS champ?

If we lose to Ark we still could go to SECCG as long as we don't fall below Ark in BCS which is possible.

The purpose of the BCS is to match #1 vs #2, regardless of conference. If 2 teams just so happen to be in the same conference (or division), so be it.

I understand the purpose but it's dumb to put a team in the championship game that didn't even win their conference.
If Bama makes it, I have confidence in the Tigers, but it's crap, IMO.

I just got back after a few minutes of lurking and spying on TideFans forum. I lived in Alabama for 11 years and loved it, friendlist place I've ever lived. But wow, they are pretty obsessed.
The majority are convinced that LSU didn't beat Alabama...Alabama beat Alabama...LSU was just the lucky knuckleheads that happened to be on other side of the line when it happened. Comments from their players I've seen seem to reflect this level of denial also.
My conclusion: nobody deserves anything. Earn what you get and don't whine.

How can you say that? What about Arkansas? I think LSU will be ranked above them....and therefore LSU will go to SECCG.

Go re-read the rule again. If we're within 5 of bama (& above Arky), it goes to h2h, which we have over bama.

Oklahoma 2003 and Notre Dame during their entire existence.
The fact of the matter is the conference championship thing is a human perequisite and not an actually guideline for the BCS formula to follow. Because if it was then Notre Dame would NEVER get a chance. And of course the media can never let their precious Irish not take part.

IF LSU wins the SEC Championship, both Oregon and Alabama should not have a chance to play LSU since both have already lost to the Tigers. Especially Alabama since they didn't win their conference or their division.

Guess our 2003 Championship is tainted because we didn't play a conference champ in the BCS game? Eph it, does anybody think Green Bay didn't deserve to play in SuperBowl. I hope we do play Bama again and beat them again. It would be even better in the BCS Championship game.
