our kicker blew so many chances to win.

The misses were of 44, 50, 49 (blocked) and 52 yards.

The only one the guy should have really been "expected" to make was the 44 yarder. The others were long rangers that are high risk and low percentage to make. All this business of Bama beating themselves is BS. Of the top 10 kickers in NCAA Div 1 this year, the success rate for a 50+ field goal is only 38%...that's the BEST kickers. It is safe to assume the 49 yarder that was blocked was also a pretty low percentage bet.

The blame should be placed on LSU's defense for not allowing Bama's offense to get to a field position where the FG attempts had a reasonable shot of being made!!

If points were awarded for reaching your opponents 30 yard line, Bama wins running away...but until that loophole in the rules is closed by Slive and the SEC...the LSU victory stands!!

meh, if ford has his left foot 2 inches to the right or randle doesn't drop a (albeit hard to catch) td pass it doesn't matter.

Didn't UGA's kicker have some big misses in 03?

If JJ doesn't throw the ball behind a wide open Shep causing him to turn completely around and fall down, then LSU is in the end zone with a lead going into halftime instead of just a tie.

At least he caught it though.

I also remember LSU getting in the red zone 3 times to Bama's 1. Then there was the pass from JJ that was literally 1 or 2 inches too high for Reuben to snag in the endzone at the end of the first half. But...but...but...LSU didn't miss any opportunities.

This was a gamble that Saban made and it blew up in his face. The smart thing to do in this type of game would have been patient and played field position and try to work your way to a spot with higher odds of scoring.

Coaching IS part of the game and so IS special teams.

I had a HS coach tell me years ago a punt is the beginning of a good defensive stand pen them deep and play good technique.

IF Ware follows copeland on the goal line run, he scores. It would have been ware vs Kirkpatrick at the 1 on the outside. Instead he turned inside and ran into one of our linemen.

Exactly, tit for tat...our lack of scoring TDs can easily be blamed on us beating ourselves. An inch or two here and there and we win a little more convincingly!!!

Don't forget that LSU had two drives that got to the Bama 35 and were stopped my illegal motion/false start. LSU also threw two INTs and shanked a punt. 2 blown coverages that allowed big plays by TR.

Both team made mistakes. LSU did a better job of overcoming theirs and taking advantage of Bama's!

Sarcasm dude

But yeah, I really couldn't believe they kept missing and then kept trying. And how do you take a freaking sack in OT? That was the game right there.

I heard that crap all day. My answer was simple. If you're going to a knife fight, you better bring a knife. If you're going to a defensive slugfest, you better bring a kicker! We brought ours and caught Bama without one. Everything else is irrelevant.

You said it RT Squared. It is not about what the offense did not do. It is about what the Defense DID!!!

Ever heard the expression: "All three phases of the game....offense, defense, and special teams?" The kicking game counts. Bama sucks at it. Big liability in their program was exposed Saturday, and they lost.
