I heard a bama fella say Williams was "repositioning" the ball in his hands
He didn't have time, nor a good enough grasp on the ball, to reposition it. I still can't understand how anybody would argue that he was down before the ball came loose.

In all the discussion I've heard and read on this, nobody seems to have noticed what was happening in the backfield as the ball was being thrown. Mingo hurried that pass and made him throw it higher than he probably wanted to. That was just great defensive effort all around by the Tigers on that play, as it was all night long.

What was my interest in the game? I wouldn't "wish" for one team to win or the other. I personally thought it was a hard fought defensive game, but I also think that Stanford or OSUsouth could find some holes and put up some yards. May not be enough, but I'm not for the rematch thing at all

The ball is moving in his hand as he is falling. Reid then comes away with it.

The refs saw it, can u?

The pic from the back shows that bama did not have possession while he was still in the air. Reid came up with it. I could be wrong, but I don't think the play is dead when the receiver hits the ground UNLESS he has possession. Pictures from the back clearly show he doesn't. So it's not a completed pass.

The ball never touched the ground, so it can't be an incompleted pass. What's left is a great INT by Reid.

The fact that it was called an interception and upheld on replay in that stadium against that team with that officiating crew should be more than enough evidence for anyone who doubts that it was the correct call.

You obviously need to look at back side angle again. It clearly shows the receiver not having the football. It will go down in LSU history as one of the greatest interceptions of all-time.

Not only did he take it away from a tight end much bigger than him but he also wasn't even guarding that receiver. What a play!

Close call and a GREAT play by Reid. If it would have been ruled a catch on the field, it probably would have stood as well. I believe the ref and replay made the correct call...

Bama WR never had complete control. Anyways, it's revenge for the PP7 interception.

I took that to be his point.

ok I can buy that I guess, but I thought at the best it was split possession when they hit the ground, and that would lead to a catch. I thought Reid grabbed it after both were on the ground?

In a split catch both receivers would have control of the ball and still be fighting for it on the ground. In this case only the LSU had control of the ball when the receivers were down. When the Bama guys knee/ rear end hit the ground the ball was moving in the hands of both receivers so he never completed the catch. Reid completed the catch.

Either way, the call was 'confirmed', as opposed to 'stands', which means there was conclusive video evidence for an interception. Call on the field wouldn't have mattered.....

I never paid attention to the difference. Damn - how many years had replay been in effect? Ya learn something new every day.

You are right on. Still, I wonder what the human factor is in overturning a call like this to go against the home team IF they would've called a catch on the field. The meltdown in Alabama would have been legendary!

Redemption from the "stolen" Patrick Peterson interception in 2009. He celebrated with a 99 yard kick off return on Sunday.

Officiating was pretty good in this one (compared to "homers" in the past in Tuscaloosa), except for some late hits on our guys on the sideline and a missed roughing the passer on Lee in the 1st half.

LSU gave as good as they got and "broke the will" of Alabama. Plain & simple.
