I think the key was that we realized it quicker than Bama did.
i was going to say that in the gameplan thread. we kind of got stuck with both QBs playing horrible, so what could we do?

last night was arse clinchingly unbelievable for sure, but was it more intense to you than UF 07?
For some reason I think that game will always stand out as the one that put me closer to a heart attack than any other one.
oh yeah UF or AU 2007 were much more intense

That tide defense of uperclassmen has 5 of the top 50 draft picks at LEAST. They were first in just about every category and their total D was 50 yards better then second place.
the d was really good
the d was really good

I think for all the Mad Hatter shite- Miles is fantastic at risk assessment
when he has the ability and players to make a riskier call then it's always a possibility. But when he knows that his D is beyond elite, and his QBs are huge liabilities, he sits tight and plays to his strength. Never leaving that box is why we won and they lost.

that's also prob because we weren't as good defensively (neither were they) so every touch could be a touchdown or a turnover.
Last night didn't feel that way at all.

I read this article before I saw this thread, could not agree more.
Gene Woeheshkooeski strikes me as a very un-knowledgable, aroused-only-by-50 point-games type of fan. Certainly no expert.
And I truly believe everyone is crediting this as an Alabama loss rather than an LSU win. Do people really expect a college kicker to make 50 and 45 yard field goals? That's what a great defense does. Stop the offense from moving the ball when they need to. Everytime Bama got to the 30-35, we put a clamp on them and forced an extremely long field goal.
frick this spin shite. I know I shouldn't care, but I truly hate people who don't know what the frick they talk about. And these nerds gets PAID for this! hhahahahahahahahaha

do people really expect an offense to throw for 100 yards when they throw 17 times?

I agree. On the flip side, this is why we lost to AU in 06.

it was not a pretty game. really bad QB play on both sides (esp LSU)
I thought Jefferson and Ford looked great from the QB and RB standpoint. Ford 11 for 72 against the #1 rush D in the country.... That is part of the game and they couldn't defend it. I would have kept running it until they threw-up. Why do you think they blew the coverage on shep?

then you're clearly just seeing what you want to so you can feel aggrieved.
Most everything I've read has gotten it right. LSU's elite defense won it, but Bama left points out there with crappy special teams. You cannot disagree with any of that. That isn't playing down LSU's win, that's just stating the facts.

Haters going to hate! I love it. The more they spew that bullshite then the more it fires them up.

This was Steelers vs. Ravens, not Saints vs. Packers. Deal with it.

I stopped paying attention to ESPN yrs ago. I only turn them on to watch games.

Shitty article... If u cant respect a great defensive matchup, you shouldnt watch college football... If all he cares about is offense, then he can watch the fricking nfl

I'm saying it because, after reading the article the OP posted about...maybe people are actually SAYING those words.
Not that it matters. LSU won. I know that was a gritty, beautiful game in its own way. But to see a lot of folks not appreciate and also disrespect the game they are, just pisses me off to be honest.

naw. it was b/c UF had an offense (bama's offense isn't that great or diversified). i'm not going to put it on the 07 D that early in the year

The playstation mentality is alive and well in the media also. Dennis Dodd had a similar article posted after the game last night.

The whole game of the century crap pisses me off. This was just another game for us, but they hype the piss out of it to make money. frick espn.
I thought the "game of the century" stuff felt like they were just trying to hype it up, but it probably was the game of the century. With the story lines that are still there - Saban, LSU's old god, vs. Miles, LSU's new god, Bama vs. LSU, #1 vs. #2 from the SEC which has dominated the last five BCS Championships at 7 pm on CBS - it definitely felt like a national championship game with Super Bowl hype.
You still have to win the rest of your games (and the ones before this one were important), but it wasn't just another game for us. Not even close... And you can try to blame ESPN (who didn't even broadcast it), but The Advocate had something like "Biggest Game Ever" on their paper. So the media in general was majorly caught up in the hype. It was an exciting game.
