I aught to get Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. I never played that one but played the first one. I thought it was a great game.

The brief bit that I have played has made me come to the conclusion that 90% of the time nothing bad actually happens, but they make you feel like something bad is going to happen 100% of the time and just when you let your guard down is the 10% of the time they spring bad shite on you.

The First FEAR with Alma had me looking over my shoulder. I am looking for more of that.

I played a bit of FEAR and it was creepy, but Amnesia is a step up imo. In FEAR you can kill shite, in Amnesia all you can do is run and hide. Check out some videos on youtube if you haven't already.

Also, if you like Amnesia check out the Penumbra games. Made by the same guys and similar play style and theme (just more modern).

ETA: LINK

I've probably watched most of the game through Toby's viewpoint. His commentary makes things interesting (occasionally annoying).

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines

One of my all-time favorite games, especially with the huge Camarilla Edition mod that restores a lot of content that was cut from the original buggy and incomplete release and generally makes the game feel more even. I don't know if the Camarilla patch works with Steam. Either way, it's one of the most replayable RPGs I've ever touched.

I just picked up Amnesia since I usually play a horror game near Halloween. For years, it's been I have No Mouth, and I Must Scream but I've pretty much worn that one out.

Dead Space 2, Bioshock just to have a copy of it, and Scratches.

Anybody know anything about Scratches?

Thing about Amnesia is the ambience. The scenery, the audio, the music, the footsteps you hear in the background, little things here and there. There are no weapons, just you and your lantern solving puzzles and avoiding monsters. It keeps you constantly aware that danger is just around every corner. It's relentless. There's no pauses where it's not scary, it's just freaky through the whole game and shite pops out at you from time to time to make it worse.

It's amazing and terrible all at the same time. I have played maybe 4 game hours. I just can't pick it back up. My heart races the whole time I play.

More than I've played. A few friends and I downloaded it one night and took turns playing it for an hour or two in the wee hours of the morning. Scary shite is not my thing.
