re: WVU was a much better fit than Missouri

True college football fans (and any sport for that matter) do not care about...
1. - Academics and the amount of research money the conference can share
2. - TV markets and the amount of money the conference can share
They care about the quality of the product they are watching. SEC should have stayed at 12.
More teams in a conference is like more ice in your beverage.

so now b/c Missouri is getting into the SEC and WVU isn't you guys are going to say the SEC should have just stayed at 12?

I think what he's saying is that even if Mizzou is thrown in the East, it's a bit strange geographically.
WTH does that matter to an SECW team, or their fans? IDGAF what the travel implications are for the East teams. As for the West teams they can suck it up for one week if it means $4M plus per annum in additional revenue via a new TV contract.

also, WVU = crappy academics.
this is bullshite, the school takes a hit and gets this false wrap only b/c it is so easy for instate kids to get in. Part of the mission statement is to give every wv native a chance at higher education.
How about people look at the amount of Rhodes Scholars from WVU and the actual rankings of some of the schools programs before bashing the school
Posted on 10/25/11 at 7:05 pm to StraightCashHomey21
How about you tell us about your academics so I don't have to look. Compare them Mizzou's while you're at it since they are your competition for the last rose

These decisions have absolutely nothing to do with academics.

b/c AAU status = big time research $$$
why is this so hard for some of you to understand?
So why is Mizzou middle of the road in the SEC according to the rankings? It's big money I get that and it will be great for the SEC AAU members, but don't see where that is translating into "OMFG" academic ratings.

WAY back in the day (80's) I remember when Playboy had Mizzou #1. Not long after that they went to a dry campus.

Ok someone did I can't find a link so I will concede. Mizzou is still getting into the SEC and WV is not. I had no opinion on WV fans on here until I saw the attacks on Mizzou here when there is no reason for them to have any animosity towards them.

It's called passion and desire. Personally, I would have killed a man to get into the SEC. But now that it looks like Mizzou is SEC bound and we're heading to the Big 12, I am perfectly happy. Big 12 is still the 2nd best football conference, 2nd best basketball conference, and if the Big 12 moves to divisions then we will most likely be 1 win away from a BCS game 4/5 years.

I'm not attacking. I wish you guys the best. WVU fans can be annoying at times, because we have that us against the world attitude. I just posted that info to show that there wasn't that big of a difference in the two schools. I just want out of the BigLeast. The Big XII is going to be a nightmare for our non revenue sports. I just want to be in a conference where we don't have to defend our right to have an AQ.
Best of luck!

I would agree to disagree with that statement. I think the B1G has that title now, but in the shake up I don't think it really matters.

B1G? Really? If you said the Pac12 you could have had an argument. But I would have thought the SEC would realize more than anybody how much the B1G is overrated.
But you're right, in the end it doesn't matter. All that matters is not being the weakest BCS conference left when it's all said and done. Hoepfully the SEC can strike the death blow to the ACC and grab FSU/Clemson/VT and the natural progression towards 4 power conferences can start.

Oregon - Is good but they stumble every year.
