There are plans that have been drawn up that would allow a stadium of 40 - 45K. It would have to be shoe-horned in, but it can be done.

Recruiting - We would get an occasional recruit from you, but that's OK. You can only take 25, and of that 25, how many come from N.O. and LA? We could do very well in keeping the other players in state that currently go to Miami, Boston College, Ole Miss, etc. OKC and Texas would be going after the athletes that you currently now own.

We were approached, and that is the sad part. I wish that we were more aggressive. Our AD is meeting with Rich Rodriguez today in Chicago. Just to get an interview with him shows the interest. The fact that Tulane is spending the money on an OCS and a good coach are all I need to know that the rumors are true about the Big 12. Maybe not this go around, but given our current administration, they would not spend the money unless it was real.

The OC from Arkansas has also showed interest, he seems like a real good coach with a good bio.

You have a link to the drawn up plans for the 40-45k OCS? I ask because I read a TU board sometimes and the rumors have been circulating for a couple years, and the seating capacity was never even mentioned to be close to that. More like 25k on the low end ,35k on the high end.

There have been rumors of press conferences, plan unveilings, and secret big money donors for a long time, and it never pans out.

Talked to Tulane administrators about this...more like 25 to 30 K expandable by maybe another 5 K.

Would the school finally lower academic standards for entry to match conference rivals? Unlikely.

Tulane already released the Playbook with said plans to spend money months ago. It had nothing to do with BCS conference dreams. It had to do with placating supporters of athletics. TU leadership has plenty of money to throw at "the problem" but no willingness to lower requirements to an even playing field.

Also, Tulane has the chance to hire a really good up-and-coming coach, at worst. It has happened there before, and I think Toledo improved the talent and recruiting in-roads in Louisiana. Find a QB with a dynamic offensive scheme, and the Green Wave can win in CUSA (or whatever division of the mega-league they are about to join).
