Reading a lot of people trying to get out of previously scheduled events for 11/5 on here and other message boards from both sides of the fan bases. Some wanting to go to the game and some just wanting to watch it on TV.

How much do you think this happens outside of the South/SEC?

Just curious if it is more prevalent here vs the rest of the USA.

Worth missing your daughter's wedding for the game, IMO.

Select programs maybe, but I doubt it is anything close to the number of people who throw life aside for football like we do down here.

Absolutely.

But people who schedule weddings on Saturdays during the fall in the south are idiots in the first place.

If I had a daughter she would know better. If it was her husband's idea... Well, he just isn't good enough for my daughter.

That's what I was thinking. I imagine schools with football traditions may do it but it seems like it is done more and more widely accepted in the South.

I skipped my best friends wedding for fla 2007 and felt really bad about it. But if they are really good friends, they will understand it is your life and if it is more important to you/makes you happier to attend/watch something else, that's ok too. BTW we're still best friends, and only a douche would hold a long term grudge.

Live in CA, it's a southern thing no doubt. Even at good programs like SC it's not even close. At all.

If you are an LSU or Alabama fan, and you schedule on that game day, you deserve to have less people show up. It's the culture here.

people in San Fran think that me scheduling my life around football on Saturday and Sunday is absurd. They really just don't understand.

I don't get it. It's like when people go crazy when the lottery reaches $100 million, but it's no big deal at $35 million. Anyone that scheduled anything from Sept. - Dec., aside from this coming weekend, isn't a real Tiger fan.

It happens much more in the south. Hince, the difference in tv ratings from the south compared to the rest of the country. It's just more important to us. Oh and I will be at a wedding at 7pm on Nov 5th. Not j/k.

She was unexpectedly pregnant so they set up a wedding in like a month or so. Maybe there were other times for the wedding, but that is what they agreed upon. Maybe they were testing friendships. It was their wedding so they can do whatever the frick they want, but unfortunately some people didn't go. Well I didn't go and he is still a great friend and LSU fan to boot. The whole thing was a little bizarre.

It's the people who schedule weddings during football season who are the ones that are rude and inconsiderate, and don't "care" about their friends and family.

They need to realize that a significant number of their guest will be inconvenienced, and its quite rude to do so. It's just as bad to schedule during football season as it is thanksgiving or christmas.

Yeah, LSU/UF was an easy choice on that one.

A couple we've never socialized with have invited us to their house for his birthday party THAT NIGHT! Wife wants to go because she says if we don't go, then we miss a chance to 'bond' with them.

Uh, hope she has fun bonding!
