After the shakedown yesterday, I believe there is a very good chance that LSU and Bama will play for the national championship in New Orleans.

BCS Rankings for today:
1. LSU
2. BAMA
3. Oklahoma St
4. Boise St
5. Clemson
6. Stanford

Now assuming the game on Nov. 5th is as epic as we all think it will be and LSU wins 24-21 and then assuming both teams win out and LSU handles business in Atlanta I could
see Alabama finishing number 2. And itis not far fetched.

Oklahoma St loses to Oklahoma
Clemson loses to south Carolina
Stanford loses to Oregon

Boise will probably go undefeated, but their SOS will kill them.

So there it is. LSU 1 vs BAMA 2

New Orleans would be rockin

Human Polls wont let it happen.

Television wont let it happen.

What is the national interest in a regional game that has already been played once.

Not much. They might even rather allow someone like Boise to get in and sink or swim.

Everybody likes the David v. Goliath story.

frick that. If we beat them in Tuscaloosa, that should be enough to prove we're better. Same thing if we were to lose.

thats' bullshite considering someone in your conference is number 1 and 2 and the rest of the teams don't have to play anyone. That theory should be thrown out the window in that regards.

After 2006 it would be almost impossible to see a rematch unless Nov 5 is a real slugfest and LSU,Bama continue to be the best teams in the eyes of the humans.

And oh

Although very interesting to talk about, this will never happen. Furthermore, what would be the talk if the loser of the nov. 5th game wins the NC? The NC losers, who won the nov. 5th game and sec championsip, will be asked to prove themselves too much IMO. If these two teams would play each other 10 times, each team would win 5 of the 10.

The national media and TV and the human polls dont decide who plays in the title game, The BCS formula does. If those three things happen i think that BAMA will be ranked 2nd just ahead of Boise

Complete and utter nonsense. Conferences are nothing more than geographic alignments.

By your reasoning the champions of the Big East or Conference USA would be more deserving that a one loss LSU or Alabama.

Think before you post.

I don't want a rematch to happen, regardless of who wins on 11/5. How is that fair to the winner of the game? The winner has to play an extra game to make it (SEC championship) while the loser sits back and waits. This makes the 11/5 game completely meaningless (except of course for the SEC championship).

I really agree with this.

I mean hey, in the NFL, the two best teams are often in one of the conferences. Alas, if they lose in their conference title game, then no Super Bowl for them!

This would have been VERY interesting if Bama and LSU were East/West. Then, you could have maybe a tight one during the season go one way. Tight one go the other way in the title game.

THAT would make for some fun griping!

If LSU wins out and beats Bama in the NC, they will be the outright champion. If Bama wins the NC against LSU and has one loss (to LSU in the regular season,) they will split the NC with Boise being the AP champ.

Good! It's retarded! I was against it when it was brought up with Meechigan/OSU, and I'm against it now.

Not gonna happen, nor do I think it should...it might be in the SEC'S favor this time for it to happen, but down the road, it could cost us, or a team in the SEC a chance to play for the NAT'L TITLE...it is as it should be...WIN YOUR CONFERENCE TITLE..play in THE GAME...

This is the dumbest idea in college.

There are far too many schools, too many GOOD schools, to say this. The idea is to have the 2 best teams in CFB play in the NC, right? Well, this year it just so happens that LSU and Bama clearly the best schools. In a class of our own. It'd be completely unfair in CFB if a Boise St., who plays a soft, soft schedule, gets in over Bama, who has a TOUGH schedule, and their only loss is to the undefeated SEC Champs, but they can't get into the NC for a rematch.

This isn't a playoff system.
