Inglorius Basterds (Spoilers implied)

Is it just me or was anyone else a little underwhelmed with ths movie? I finally caught it. It had surprisingly little "war" action in it. It was a lot of dialogue, but it wasn't like the dialogue from Pulp Fiction that had me captivated.
The bar scene was awesome. Brad Pitt had a much smaller role than I anticipated but he was funny and awesome.
The Colonel surprised me at the end. Not only with his flipping, but also his arrogance in dealing with "The Basterds" at the end. Not sure if that was just bad writing though.

The opening scene and the bar scene were just amazing. I could watch those over and over again. They made the movie.
The rest of the movie, yes, I was a bit underwhelmed.

The thing I disliked about this movie the most came after it. It was Christopher Waltz not getting the lead actor Oscar nom.
I don't see how he was a supporting actor in any way.

The frick?
The dialogue in IB is much more captivating. Its chilling and nerve-wracking dialogue scenes in that movie where the tension is ratcheted up again and again that makes it so brilliant.

Disagree, I was bored with Chapter 3?, the whole setting up the propaganda movie in the smaller cinema scene in the restaurant. Totally bored.

Not enough screen time for the actual Basterds IMO. Could have used a few more scenes of them kicking arse. Also more Bear Jew.

Amongst recent big budget WW2 films done by big name directors and staring a female lead I'd probably rank it third behind Black Book and Lust, Caution.

Well we are on 2 different levels of thought on this movie. I loved it
And the opening scene is a big reason why there should be an Oscar for Best Scene each year.

The opening scene and the bar scene I'm with you. And who doesn't like to see Nazis burning alive?
And like I said, the Colonel's actions at the very end of the movie really didn't fit his character. Was he really that arrogant and full of himself that he could just hand weapons to "The Basterds" who were known cold blooded killers? I kind of think not. I lean a little more toward bad writing there.

I literally hate most of Tarantinos movies. I just dont care for his style. I didnt even consider watching this until long after it was on HBO. I watched it one night and I think IB is an awesome movie. I had zero expectations.
