"I think very much (A&M) would have gone to the SEC if we'd gone with them, (to) which we said no 18 months ago. ... I think they think (the SEC) is a better fit for them," Powers said. "In all our conversations with the SEC, this was about Texas A&M only," A&M president R. Bowen Loftin said Thursday. "We never talked about a package deal (with Texas)."

You are out of your mind if you think the SEC isn't/wasn't interested in Texas.

You are out of your mind if you think UT ever thought about the SEC.

Hell, UT was ready to destroy the Big 12 and head to the PAC--except they wanted to keep the LHN, which the PAC wouldn't allow.

So, yes--the SEC would take UT. But UT would never go to the SEC, and this president is lying. UT's actions of 2010 and Summer/Early Fall 2011 prove it.

TK421,

I am a graduate of The University of Texas School of Law. William Powers was my 1L Torts professor, in an experimental class size of 15.

I can tell you about his Navy service purchasing petroleum during Vietnam, I can tell you about his theological views, and I can tell you his views on the legal process of trying lawsuits.

I do have a way of knowing, and I know he is lying. Here's are his words from 2010:

quote:

We are delighted that we're in a conference together. We weren't going to end the relationship with A&M, whatever they did," Powers said, hinting that Texas and A&M would continue to play each other even if they were in separate conferences.

You can hush up now, little TK421

Everyone lies. The Aggies say they are committed to the Big 12 and then leave a year later. The folks at Texas have changed their story more times than I can remember. Mizzou needs to make its move and end this crap.

What the hell does any of this have to do with whether he is lying? For what purpose would any university president have to gain by such a stupid lie?

All I'm seeing from this is that you've read his bio or paid attention in class.

After a thinking a little on this, I think we probably ought to just get on with life and not worried about who's right, who's not, etc.

UT will remain a great school in a great city but a weakened conference and A&M is striking out on their own in the SEC.

Both situations have advantages and disadvantages.

Let's circle back in five and ten years to truly see who the "winners and losers" are, bceause really only time will tell on this.

Awe, come on man. We can't have Aggies and Horns drinking beer together. No beer summits on TD, only bloodshed.
