You know, you can grind sirloin or filet or kobe or whatever.
"In the Ford Motor Company's executive dining room, Henry Ford II rarely ate anything but hamburgers. According to Lee Iacocca, Ford complained that his own personal chef at home couldn't make a decent burger. In fact, no one made burgers as perfect as the ones at the executive dining room. Curious, Iacocca asked the establishment's chef to show him what he did to make Ford so happy with his burgers. The chef went to the fridge, grabbed an inch-thick slab of New York strip steak, ran it through a grinder, patted up a patty and tossed it on the grill. "Amazing what you can cook up when you start with a five-dollar hunk of meat," said the chef with a sly smile. (Though it would be more like a $25 hunk of meat today.)"

Yeah you can also stuff it with cream cheese and celery leaves if you want to really wow your guests

hmmmm, I have a pack of ground antelope I've been debating how to cook. I think a chili might be in order.

Deflection. A ruse for the desperate.

You might try learning what goes into a good chili, and what does not. Then learn how to get a flavor that blends the arse-kick of hot, with the true flavor of a good chili which is cumin.

I do believe it is time for Zach to man up and file for divorce, but the Chocs entry made me spit. Nothing quite like a large pot of large rodent chili to warm your innards on a cold day.

You can buy it in any grocery store. Sometimes, you can find a Mexican brand in the Mexican foods sections, but Baker's brand will do. You also use semi-sweet chips or a Hershey bar like Otis.

I agree with some of the more rational posters on this thread, that it is all good if it is what you like. I like chili made with ground meat and I also like it made with chunks as a chili stew. With tomatos or not, with beans or not, what is important is the flavors of the overall product. As I may have said before, I grew up on a rice farm. That means I usually eat my chili over rice. The picture of that chili stew with mexican rice sure looked appetizing to me. Now if I want chili for a hotdog, I prefer ground and no beans. If I was at a chili cookoff and Powerman brought his chunky chili, I would certainly help him eat it (if some rice was available).

I hear ya
I've been a bit of a jackass in this thread but it was warranted since LE is a pedophile and I like to make fun of him
I do think that chili should be made as a dish that can stand on it's own with a side instead of making it into a glorified condiment

I was wondering what got the cute chicks panties in a wad. Now there is an explanation.

Wink, OT, Josie has some potential problems with the FL bar.
Anyone else have any chili recipes or tips? For those who use chilies, what kinds do you use and do you rehydrated the dry chilies or just grind them?

I use a lot of different types of peppers
I don't worry about it being a red or green chili really
I use jalapenos, serrano peppers, bell peppers, anaheim, poblano, habanero for the most part
About 25-30 peppers in total. I did these in a chopper because I was in a rush

That's because it is!
And there is no need for chili powder if you use actual chilis IMO
