Not pale or awkward, but I'm not from the south.

The Missouri part of that map is interesting. I'm hoping the other posters that live in Missouri tell us what the people say in their part of the state. The map says 50-80% pop for Jasper,CO but I hear people say COKE in SWMO. I know we have some people from the STL area and Columbia area on here. Missouri seemed split on that map.

strange.
I either call it by its brand name or soda.
I was born in College Station, grew up in Tyler (East Texas) and now live in Dallas.
Everyone I know says soda or the brand name. Hell, the people I know from Oklahoma call it soda or its brand name too.
Only time I have ever heard anyone call it pop was in Colorado.

Interesting. Eastern KY says Pop and Western KY says Coke. I grew up in South FL and I say Soda and that map reflects that.

Yea I don't know why people in E KY say pop, but they all do, which is strange because people from that region have extremely strong Southern accents. Compared to Louisville or Western KY where everyone says Coke but accents aren't as strong (especially in Louisville).

Of course south Florida does not use the term Coke......Wouldn't want someone to misinterpret your intentions...

Map is wrong. No one in Leake County Mississippi calls it pop. It is all Coke.

No Bengal, Tensas is not blue, and it's called COKE there

you have got to be shittin' me. my first impression was how much did this survey cost and who the hell paid for it (and, of course, how much did the dumbass pay). i guess one can find a survey on just about anything one can imagine these days. fits this country perfect; we don't do anything, we just study shite.

Uhh no people actually say it. I am one of those people and so is just about every person I know. But the whole scenario of going into a restaurant and ordering a "coke" only for the waitress to ask you "what kind?" is complete bullshite. That just doesn't happen. Would you go to the bar and simply say "can I have a beer"?
eta: NVM thought you were responding to the OP. I'm not actually sure what you meant.
