The reason the option hasn't worked is because of it's predictability. Anyone who says getting JJ back is a hindrance, should have their face beaten in with a 45 lb plate.

a well run option is hard to defend

Not really, how did ga tech do against lsu's malvetto defense, for example. The standard pitch option has little to no value in our offense

I couldn't agree more. Lee offers a more efficient, well managed offence, which in my opinion is what LSU need's most of the game. It's a winning formula. However, Jefferson brings a mobility threat that Lee doesn't. JJ will be great to bring in when the offence goes stale!

Or gets shut down completely

come on man, that is all they do and did, no real threat of a pass, and we had a month

He can also turn a good play into a busted play.

But I'm still hopeful about him.

Sorry, I disagree. When RP came into the game in 2007, it was fairly predictable that he was going to run a lot. It was much harder to stop because he was good at executing it.

If JJ gets a chance to play, it'll be good because it could be a change of pace, and it brings another dimension to the offense. I think that's what most everyone is saying here. It also has the chance to be bad if JJ hasn't improved. So, I'd like to stick with what's been working.

The option does nothing for us...there are much better change of pace plays we can run

JJ can help. There's just no reason to force him into the offense like I know we're going to do.

RP rushing stats taking out sacks:

48 attempts 240 yards 5 ypc

JJ rushing stats taking out sacks:

105 attempts 568 yards 5.4 ypc

How well did RP run the option?

If dude was Cam Newton-esque, there's no way we have the worst offense inthe NCAA last year. (slight exaggeration)

Bottom line: The read option isnt new to the SEC. the strangth comes from being able to throw from it. Thats something JJ has clearly struggled with.

Without the pass, JJ doesnt bring a whole lot. We'll have to see if hes improved there.

Full of FAIL. Comparing RP and JJ is like Tom Brady to TC Mc.

Lolz. Based on what. Rp's rivals ranking? His college career? His current NFL status? (oh wait)

No, he has never shown he can do it consistently.

Dude if you can't do something consistently then you can't do it good.......I mean shite I can make a 3 point shot about 3-5 % of the time that doesn't mean I can shoot as good as Larry Bird

So in order to show how JJ can help our offense you had to find and link plays of another QB? What does it say that JJ has started over 25 games yet you had to find video of another QB as an example of what JJ MIGHT be able to do?

Sure he can help the team but right now this is Lee's team and it should be.

So you don't trust the coaches or media when they spoke so highly of Jefferson's improvement all summer.

I for one tend to agree that if it aint broke don't fix it, but I think JJ can give this offense a look that can keep teams on their heels.

Also, it aint broke YET. To be honest, I don't think we've played a defense near the caliber of what we'll see versus florida or alabama or hell even arkansas. To gameplan for both JJ and JL is going to throw a wrench in everyones gameplan from here on out

And to those who say RP was a better QB in2007 than JJ is currently you're insane. We've never seen him in a package like RP was able to maneuver in 2007. JJ's problem is not that he can't run the offense he was just in over his head. I for one think he is going to excel in this type of role.
