Losing a game on purpose is almost as unprofessional as Pete Rose betting on baseball or the Black Sox throwing the World Series. All current Yankees, front office should receive lifetime ban from the game ala Rose. This isn't a sandlot game. This is fixing games in professional sports. Heads should roll and I hate the Red Sox. It doesn't matter who did it, it's unprofessional. Now 9-year olds believe it's OK to lose if it hurts someone else. Do you think DiMaggio or the Babe or Gehrig or Mantle would have lost on purpose? Selig's head should roll for allowing this. Yankees should be banned for post-season play for 5 years minimum - same as the Black Sox scandal.

You have to understand this from our perspective. In other words, be a Sox fan. Every true Sox fan is depressed and shocked. Of course we're going to lash out at the Yankees. That's all we have at times like this.

God I hope you are being serious.

I have a huge smile on my face knowing that red sox nation is crying in their milk this morning. Couldn't happen to a better fan base.

If I were the Yankees, I would RATHER play the Red Sox in the playoffs right now than any other team.

No doubt.

But there was no guarantee that the two would've even met.

Rangers would've swept the Sox.

too scared

I don't think this would be the case, but it is funny this is their biggest blown lead that late in the game since 1954.

That pitch in the 9th inning to that guy hitting .108 was belt high right down the middle with no movement.

If NFL can be fixed (as another thread claimed) baseball can be as well.

Holy. shite.

Did you feel the same way when the Saints rested Drew Brees against Carolina for the last game of the season?

Did Texeira not play and hit two homeruns? Did Cano not play? Jeter? They used 11 pitchers. AJ Burnett and Hughes even threw.

Yea, they got two outs in the 9th just to tantalize the Red Sox fans, and then waited to grove one down the middle to a guy who hadn't hit a homer in months, just knowing he would jack one out to tie the game.

Sox fans claiming the Yankees threw the game cause they were too scared to face them in the playoffs.

With that logic, the Yankees should just claim the Red Sox threw away a 9 game wildcard lead to avoid getting embarrassed by the Yankees in the playoffs, lol.
