It's already started on some message boards.

Sox fans claiming the Yankees threw the game cause they were too scared to face them in the playoffs.

Do you think the Yankees wanted their biggest rival in the playoffs?

Are we sure the Red Sox weren't throwing games? I mean they had a 9 game lead going into this month. That oughta be enough, right?

Don't go 7-20 in September if you want to make the playoffs.

They weren't complaining when they were winning tonight.

Not saying they threw games, but they didn't go out of there way to win. If that makes sense.

They went up 7-0. They earned the right to rest their guys.

And it's not like their bench guys weren't trying to win.

The Yankees ran out some scrub lineups against the Red Sox over the weekend too. They didn't mind then.

The Yankees didn't owe Boston shite. They clinched the division last week. They had the luxury of resting whoever they wanted to get ready for the playoffs.

Besides, Boston likely would have been a much less formidable potential opponent than Tampa.

Exactly. Tampa is a much, much better team right now. Much better rotation.

Hey, I agree with you.

I hate the fricking Red Sox. I hate Boston fans in general. I relish in their pain.

They don't seem to realize that if they would have beat the O's, they may not be home.

As a die-hard Sox fan, I can say that it is ALL on the Red Sox. Too many missed opportunities. Not just tonight, but all season. We had some injuries that didn't go our way. Pitching was a disaster the second half of the season. Crawford was a bust except for maybe two months. I could go on, but to spare me from the state of depression I'm already in, I won't.

So let me get this right.. There are 162 games in a season and Boston fans blame their biggest rival for not winning a game to help them out. Had they won one more (or two actually) they wouldn't have had to depend on the yankees in the first place. So stupid to blame the rival for their team's historical choke job.

Exactly what Barry Larkin said on Sports Center tonight.

I was sorta surprised he came out like that and said it -- but he did.

ETA: He didn't say "shite" but he might as well have.

No doubt because the Red Sox are just such a terrifying juggernaut right now.

You have to understand this from our perspective. In other words, be a Sox fan. Every true Sox fan is depressed and shocked. Of course we're going to lash out at the Yankees. That's all we have at times like this.

I'd expect nothing less from boston fans.

Go Rays

At least we have a dedicated fan base. Just sayin. Good luck to the Rays. I'd rather them than the Yawnkees.
