2004 Yankees - Losing four games in a row after being up 3 games to 0 against the Red Sox in the 2004 ALCS. First team in the over 100 year history of baseball to blow a 3 game lead in the playoffs.

2011 Red Sox - Losing a 9 game lead with less than a month to play. Have a 1 run lead in the bottom of the ninth with two outs and nobody on and still lose.

I guess it's the Yankees, but the Red Sox have the distinction now of being the team that had the biggest lead in September in MLB history that didn't make the playoffs. The 2011 Braves are 2nd. Pretty amazing stat, IMO.

'64 Phillies had a pretty big choke job as well. 6.5 up w/ 2 weeks to go and I think they lost 10 straight to miss the playoffs.
