Many thanks to all the posters with the tips.

I finally get to go to my 1st game as a responsible father.

The first game I brought my son to see, he left very disappointed. I told him we were going to see the Tigers play! He took me literally and was sad to see actual people on the field. I'll never forget "but Dad, where are the Tigers?" Good Times and so many memories!

Do you think that there will be tickets available on the day of the game at the stadium for the Florida game? Looking for one ticket only and going to my first LSU game......turns out should be a good one

I'd say steer clear of the top of the hill. Go earlier, and get closer to the bottom of the hill. The top is okay to see the players, but when I was at the top of the hill a couple of weeks ago, only the drummers were drumming. The rest of the band just silently marched by, and did not begin playing until they got down towards the bottom.

And the new Shaq statue, just on the other side of the PMAC, makes a cool photo op.

When he gets about 7 you can have the big boy talk about the big games and give him the option to go or not. Kinda the same rules apply as fishing fwiw.

My son was 5 when I took him to his first game. I was very glad I brought some toy cars with me because when he got bored, he turned his back on the game and played with his cars on the south endzone bleachers.

It was the Cigar Game, so...

I've been knocking around the idea of taking my little one, almost four, who loves the Tigers, does the cheers but already admits she will probably not want to stay for the whole game (I probably wouldn't have either when I was that young). We've been tailgating/walking around campus before and she loved it, but it seems like the game thing would be more trouble than it's worth right now. But you guys have certainly made me reconsider it.

Make sure he is well rested. An early kickoff should help. My daughter was 4 ,and by the time of kickoff (7:00) she was tired and very cranky. I had to leave at halftime, and I never do that.

I'm not sure I would direct you to the NEZ with a 4-year-old.

Agreed.

North end zone or anywhere near student section is a bad, bad idea if you want a 4 year old to maintain some level of innocence.

I started going to LSU games with my dad when I was about 5 or 6 (circa 1981,1982). We sat in the upper part of the south end zone where cheers end with "L-S-U" instead of "Kick their arse!"

Granted, I love the north end zone or student section so long as I don't have kids with me. It is the party zone. But it's not the kid friendliest party at Tiger Stadium.

East sideline is probably your best bet (away from student section).

As a general rule, people who pay more for tickets tend to be older and more mature. If you get cheap seats, expect more drunken assholes who are gonna say things you might not want your kid repeating.

Last weekend, I took my 19 month old daughter to the 1st half of the local high school game. That was a perfect intro to football for her. She got to hear the band up close (mere feet away) and we got to walk down on the track and see a touchdown scored mere feet away from us. I highly recommend taking your toddler to a high school game before you even think about going to Tiger Stadium. It's a good way to see how well they pay attention to the game and gauge how well they can sit still.

Good luck and Geaux Tigers!

I took my nephews to a Washington State game (they live in Pullman) and one of them played on his Nintendo DS the whole game. That was a huge waste of money.

Only LSU game I've ever been thrown out of the stadium. Most points Auburn has ever scored on LSU.

It was so bad that immediately after the marshall tapped me on the shoulder I told her I'd happily leave before she had a chance to get too pissy with me. I threw a mostly empty cup. Yeah, I'm a dumbass. I've never done it before or since. Sorry for partying.

Oh, and there is lots of cup throwing in the North End Zone. One more reason not to bring a 4 year old to the North End Zone.

Having kids now and taking them I attend most of my games now sober, works out good although for the Tenn game last year I could have really used a drink after that. I'm taking my youngest 8 and nephew 8 to their first game. Scored lower bowl from some season tix holders, cant wait. Yes let the brainwashing commence

Put him up in one of the trees by mike to watch the band march by. That's what my daughter (now 19) remembers the most from her first game when she was four.

If he can hang to the end, wait for the band as it comes out. The drum major will usually let kids hold the big baton and take pictures. I have pictures of my boys like that that I will always treasure.

Echo what other dads have said. He is only four, and this is a lot of event for a four year old. Let him enjoy the cotton candy and the cokes if that is what he likes more than the game. Walk around a lot. Everything is new to him.

One last pointer. If you hang out in the back of the tiger cage, you can usually catch them loading Mike up into the rolling cage. Kids like that.

Get him some earmuffs for when our wonderfull sperm bank of tomorrow (students) yell "SUCK THAT TIGER DICK BITCH". What mom would not be proud of a son who says that wonderful phrase? These ignorant students don't care about the venom they spew and who it is directed to. They are the "hey listen to how cool I sound generation". Little do they know how stupid they sound to the MAJORITY of the people out there. They only listen to their drunk or high friend who says "that was so cool man, like, do it again".

This is not really new or particularly crude in historical terms. We had a banner in the early eighties that read as follows: "The Crimson Tide is a menstrual flow, but the Tiger Rag will stop them cold."

Your kids are going to hear things at games. They are going to hear these things in life. Just talk to them about what they see and hear.

Bringing my 7 and 10 year old boys to Tiger Stadium for the first time this weekend as well.

They've seen LSU beat SC in Columbia in 2009 and they saw LSU whip UNC last year in the GA Dome but they haven't been to Tiger Stadium yet.

Going to be a fun weekend... we'll spend the Friday in NOLA, Friday night we may go by TJ Ribs let them see some LSU jerseys. We'll tailgate early for the game on Saturday and maybe hit Parrain's for dinner on Saturday night.

They have no idea yet either... they won't figure it out until we're switching planes at the CLT airport.
