If RP hadn't bee such a dumbass there would have be no drop off after the 2007 season and much of of the criticism of Les would have never existed.

Well to be fair there wasn't 30 something bowl games like they have now
yea well that's kinda irrelevant because he had two 5 win seasons at the end so there could have been 50 bowls and he wouldn't have gone.

The only team that was bowl eligible near the end that didn't go was the 76 team

I don't think Miles is a better coach than Saban.

But I'll say this.

Last year Alabama had G-Mac, Julio Jones and two 1st round RBs and LSU beat them 24-21.

Every year Alabama has the No.1 recruiting class in the country and someone how LSU is described as the most talented team in the country.

Miles has had his team ready to play Alabama and most teams.

Also looks like he's very close to hitting 80% which is phenomenal.

You know I did not say he was a better coach than Saban, but I'll take Miles over Saban any time.

Can we please just dominate the ever living crap out of Arky. Please sink the flagship

In 6 games Miles has faced Ar-Kansas the record is 3-3(split series) where Ar-Kansas actually has a 1 point advantage. The total points scored is 184(Lsu)-185(Ark). I would be highly surprised if we win by more then a TD. Only one year(last year) did either school win by a TD or more. 4 years were decided by a FG or less.

Nobody could beat the Bear in the 1970's. mac got in trouble win LSU was picked to win the SEC title in 1974 and went 5-5-1, then 6-4-1, 8-4,8-4 and 7-5. Also, LSU was picked to win the NCAA championship in '72 (Bert's senior year)and went 9-2-1 and lost to Tennennesse in the Astro-Bluebonnet bowl. Lost to Tulane in 1973 and after winning their first 9-games lost their final three.

It wasn't just about not beating the Bear. Charley Mac underachieved, there's no other way to slice it. He was a good coach, but lacked what it took to get us to the next level, unlike his predecessor, who I would argue accomplished more than Saban at LSU.

He may well be a better tactician. It just depends on what you define as a "coach". Different people have different qualities that they ascribe to individuals that they feel make them a better coach. Miles may have a better way with people and know how to motivate or make a player be a team player. Saban may have better tactical and 'whiteboard' skills, or be a better skills coach (DB's).

It's debatable but not that far fetched that Saban is a great coach. Why they always have to be compared against each other in a "who's better" internet fight among 16 year olds never ceases to amaze me. The collective intelligence and attention span of the internet dweebs of America is exasperating.

Was just talking to a Tennessee Fan and he told me how much he liked Les Miles as a coach. He said what he likes most is that Miles gambles in a conservative way at just the right time. He loves watching LSU games because of the way the team plays, you never know what they are going to do and they have such great athletes.

He also said he does not like Saban because he is an old style coach who wins a lot of games but when he gets the lead he plays not to lose the game.

With the Miles vs Saban debate, I think they are almost the same. Productivity is a wash, but I dont think Miles will jump ship at the first call like Saban did. I think Miles' players will want to come back and help the program or speak highly of the program, not necessarily Sabans. I think Miles exudes happiness and joy where Saban exudes a stuck-up-im-better-than-you attitude that is very counter-productive.

For this I am very happy with Miles and the direction of the program. This is the reason we are destined to stay near the top year in and year out. This is the reason I am proud to be a Tiger now and forever.
