The Kirk Herbstreit Redemption?

He was vocally campaigning for LSU to be the #1 team in the country.
I still haven't forgotten the times in the past where he was seemingly biased against us, and, particularly the "Miles to Michigan" fiasco, but is anyone reassessing their opinion of Herbie?

He's wrong. LSU should not be #1.
Until the end of the year.

His doucheyness has gone from off the charts to about 90%.

yeah he's a pretty boy.
yeah he had bad info in 07.
yeah he's a buckeye, but he's better than many other insufferable color guys.
edit: calling AU as NC's in the preseason last yr was

Herbie's Thought: "Well, I tried to screw over Les and got slapped in the face. Maybe if I build him up he'll screw up..."

Going into the half, both Kirk and Brent were pretty much talking like the game was over. Was funny.

People who think KH was against LSU or out to get LSU have been pretty far off base IMO. He reported the Miles to Michigan story too soon but IMO he was probably leaked the story by someone higher up at Michigan and chose to run with it.
He does go "hot" and "cold" on different football teams but so does everyone - and if you don't have teams you like more or less then you really are not an analyst because you have to express opinions as a part of your job
Most of what I want from the talking heads is for them to express an informed opinion and for the most part I think KH has done that while he has worked for ESPN

I think he got credit, even here on the Rant, but it was offset by the other stuff (picking against LSU, MtM, etc.)
But, now, he was one of the vocal leaders of the "LSU should be #1" group of national sports figures.

He did keep talking about how many yards West Va had thrown for during the game, which seemed irrelevant to me considering the score. Because they had that style of offense it gave LSU opportunities to turn the ball over because the ball was up in the hair for grabs, and there were also many other opportunities at picks that LSU could have had.

Its a conspiracy. Herbie is setting us up for a bigger fall if we do lose.....................

I've never really minded Herbstreit. He knows his stuff. One of my more favorite sports announcers.

Well, if you put him up next to Verne & Mushburger, yeah, Herbie's a saint.

Kirk is a pretty good judge of talent and have listened to his show in Columbus, Ohio. He is definitely a homer when it comes to Ohio State but you would be too if you were a QB there. He sees LSU s speed and talent and finally we have a QB that is as good as our defense.

He prolly needs a team since the buckeyes are in the toilet for now.

this.
Herbie and Brad Edwards were pushing hard for LSU to get in the NC game in 2007. They kept explaining why they should jump this team, why they should jump that team. like it or not, Herbie has more pull than anyone in the game. voters don't watch the game, they watch highlights, and at the end, there's Herbie, LSU should be number one. look what happens.

To OP: First mistake you made was listening to his voice. By now you should have your brain set to tune out just about anyone who works for ESPN.

Whoa! I wouldn't go THAT far. He's doing great and getting better, but our D is one of the tops in the nation. JL, not yet, but I hope he is by the end of the season!
