I do think there is one element of his game that Ford is clearly better at.

Not running between the tackles.

Not catching the ball.

Not blocking.

It's field vision and turning an 8-yard gain into a 20+ yard gain. As soon as Ford gets through the first level on the defense he seems to know instinctively where to go to get past the 2nd level. The TDs against Oregon and WVU are perfect examples. I've seen Ware not take advantage from time to time of the field/blocking once he gets past the line of scrimmage. This seems to be an instinct Ford just has.

(CSB?)

They are a good pair to have. I like letting Ware get the defense tired of the pound and then letting Ford come in with the break away speed.

Totally agree. I think the coaches recognize that as well which is why you will notice that when we get in the Red Zone or thereabouts, Ford normally gets the first carry (and often scores).

Ford has much better vision.
Ware's SOP is hit a guy, spin move, hit a guy, spin move.

They make a great 1-2 punch.

Ware turns no gain or a loss into 4 to 6 yard gains.

Ford turns 6 to 9 yard gains into 14 to 18 yard gains.

Both are needed and appreciated.

Didn't you see him spinning out of would-be tackles? This is retarded

No need to make a postive thread about ford with anything negative about ware in it. They are both different backs and help us BIG time. They are both good...and we need them both.

He keeps his legs churning, too, ala Dalton Hilliard or Toefield.

I think Ware looks for contact. He made a great run when he spun out of those tackles behingd the LOS but then when he broke into the open he made a bad cut and got tackled by the guy RR was blocking...had he taken that outside he may have scored. RR had him set up to take the sidelines.

They make a great combo and should only get better.

That is something I think he needs to improve on, but at the same time it isn't that vital.

yes, probably a good way to frame it. I love the complementary nature of Ware/Ford.

I just think Ford is so naturally talented at seeing the field is it... well, exciting.

I like Ford a lot, too. But I think when we play elite defenses some of those cut backs won't be there. I think Ware's style will shine then.

They're both great backs - and I wouldn't trade them for any other combo in the nation. (and I can only think of 1 (Latimore) that's better than either of them). They're freaking good. Hell, Blue could start for over half of the SEC teams.

We should just be thankful

Agreed. Les likes to start Ware not because he's a better runner but because he likes to deal those body blows to the defense to soften them up for Ford.

Ware's got moves that make a Maytag jealous. Dude's spin-moves are like Madden-esque.

Having said that, if Ford were a little sturdier, he'd be an every-down difference maker in the SEC.

Between the two, we've got 1.5, it seems.

Ware is great between the tackles and keeps plays going bigtime. Great moves. He also punishes in terms of finishing a play in the 2nd level. He has issues with top-end speed and is going to need help getting to the edge and turning it up the field.

Ford is a guy whose proven himself between the tackles and will get to the edge routinely if he can keep up the between-the-tackles bit. If you give him more than 10-12 carries a game, he's going to break one on you. 15 reps a game is necessary for him. But long term...can he take the pounding? Hmm...That question needs to be answered.

We need Ware to get around 20. We need to get Ford 15. We need Blue to spell those two with about 2-3. We need about 25-30 passes.

If those things happen, then we'll need to talk about how we won the game.

That is what I think. Defenders get used to Ware trying to truck them and then Ford comes in and makes them miss. Ford is much more fluid than I thought he seems to just swivel his hips and cut while not losing speed.

I love the current mix of backs we have. Take it from the other defense's perspective-

do you really want to chase Ford after wrestling with Ware for a couple series?

do you really like to see Ware get a good rest while Ford is playing, then come back in fresh and start pounding you again?

do you really want to see Blue with his physical style come into the game late, all wild-eyed and bouncing like a puppy for finally seeing the field, after facing Ware and Ford all game?
