I can't imagine that are too keen on playing in the Pac-12...the SEC seems like the best fit.

read elsewehere that the SEC approached them when Texas almost nuked the Big 12 a year or so ago... so apparently interest was there on the part of teh SEC.

not sure if it still is, and im not sure if it was reciprocated.

I agree, Chicken. And after looking at those pods in the other thread, that would be an awesome set up.

I mean, really, I can't imagine a Sooner fan would be thrilled about the road games being so far, unless Pac 12 pulls in Texas and TTech to make a quad pod of their own. But there would still be all those other games in other time zones.

Do you know geography or how to read a map ? OK, OK State, ARK, and Missouri are not far apart.

Clearly he was talking about OU going to the PAC.

It seems from what I've read and from my couple of sooner friends they prefer the PAC over SEC. They feel like they could run roughshod over the conference and cherry pick more Cali recruits.

But either option is preferred over Big 12 in it's current state.

A lot of Texas fans have a similar viewpoint.

I am sure deals are being bargained and made in backrooms that we will never no about. But the schools will go where the biggest paycheck is regarldless of how far fans and soccer teams have to travel.

I'd prefer SEC, but then again I'm married to an LSU alum and my dad is from MS.

It makes sense geographically and culturally for sure. I personally hate the thought of being with west coast schools. OSU recruits Tx kids harder than OU (since they are a national power, they get kids from a larger area) and whatever situation plays out we'd need to continue that.

Personal preference : SEC, PAC then weakened big 12.

It'll be interesting for sure...and I wish T Boone would shut up about it all.

Been saying this since this fiasco began. If OU/OKSt are moving on, it will be to seperate from UT. I might be surprised, but after today's "calling out" of UT, I doubt they can coexist. Win-win for all concerned is the SEC.

I don't care for adding 4 big12 teams. would prefer two max (like Mizzou, love A&M) then poach two closer to the east.

FWIW I still think that's the direction the SEC goes. It is SouthEastern, not midwest. And I think the institutions of OU and OSU prefer the PAC over the SEC

Chicken - help me out of another senile moment.

Wasn't there a thread a couple of weeks ago about the OU airplane being spotted in MO & A&M on the same day? Believe it was confirmed.

So the question is, was an OU / OKSt / Mo deal brokered weeks ago? Would certainly answer my question of Silve's silence.

The saga continues.

The OU plane did, in fact, travel from Norman to Columbia, MO then back to Norman followed immediately by a trip to and from College Station. This was reported as a last ditch effort to keep A&M in conference. A&M and OU have a good rapport and the audience was given, but OU was told A&M had already decided they were gone.

Gerry - unless MO'S buddies were dropping off some BBQ, why Mo first? If the A&M relationship is that good, I question the topic at these meetings since I think OU is as fed up with UT as the aggies

Got a feeling a bombshell is coming as soon as Wed after the OSSt BoR meeting.

The Norman-Columbia-College Station flights were supposedly because the OU and Mizzou presidents were acting on behalf of the conference to try and coax Aggy back to B12

what time is this today?

it sounds like things have calmed down and nothing major will be announced - but more than people have appreciated OU seems like the power player who may decide more than any other single school what the college football landscape looks like

Does OU seem like Texas' wife in some ways? In public she lets Texas bluster and pretend to be in control ... but when they are alone together she puts her foot down and decides what they will be doing

Okie President and AD and Stoops just made public statements that they are firmly committed to Big12.

Looks like Big 12 will have equal revenue sharing for tier 1 & 2 rights and schools still control their tier 3 rights. LHN will operate as is wit zero changes.

So, OU will make less money to stay in a conference with Texas and the LHN. Things couldn't have worked out worse for OU. They have learned their place.

OU friends (don’t think any are that connected) here in Dallas say many fans/ alums want SEC but some higher ups want PAC. Since PAC didn't happen some leaning towards SEC now...that is if they can bring OSU. Most don't think the Big 12-3 can survive and most don’t think they can live with UT any longer.

My thought is this - I think OU/ OSU, Mizzou and A&M all coming to SEC creates some very interesting matchups that fans want to see – thus networks and advertisers will pay for as well. We have recently seen the creation of the ChickFilA Classic and Cowboys Classic - both have been hugely successful for all involved – as well as big games like OU/FSU as well. This has certainly increased interest amongst all in top college football circles - like OU. The average college football fan/ and alum is tired of watching OU vs. Ball State. Even though OU and FSU don't have a quote rivalry - they are both storied programs that created a fantastic atmosphere - same goes with Oregon - LSU.

These are Events and everyone makes money. This is what would happen if the SEC Super Conference is formed – great for all involved. So I think OU/ OSU/ Mizzou/ A&M are headed to the SEC.
