Time of possession isn't only a stat for offensive praise, yes our offense holds the ball a while but the 3 and outs that our defense has produced in the second half has been remarkable.
Very true, I knew they had been dominant in the third quarter but even dominant doesn't do that justice. I mean 9 yards to the #3 team in the nation? Are you freaking kidding me? Is this NCAA12 or something?

Since that technically wasn't against our defense, the next longest is a 22 yd pass in garbage time against Miss St.
I was trying to think THursday night if we had allowed a play over 25 yards all year.
Big plays were our achilles heel on defense last year (see the primary culprits vs. Auburn and Arkansas in our losses, and big plays from UNC and others in our close games). Nice to see we are ironing that out.

In addition, on the one drive of the 3rd quarter that LSU gave up points (Mississippi State's 42-yard FG), LSU committed 20 yards in penalties.
The penalties (including Logan's 15-yarder) pushed the Bulldogs up 20 yards to the 25-yard-line and into FG range. Otherwise, the point total given up in 3rd quarters this season would be flawless.
I don't necessarily mean to play the 'if this, if that' game... because all fans can do that to make their team look better than they are. I just thought it was interesting.

That is simply bind-moggling.
God help those poor back-country rejects on Saturday.

Looks like we need to start holding up three fingers at the start of the second half, in addition to the traditional four at the beginning of the fourth quarter!!!!

Les Miles and John Chavis don't know how to adjust.
Most people think Chavis adjusts pretty well, not sure about Miles though. Doubt he's going over defensive strategy with Chavis at half.

I guess people are continuing with the everything that goes wrong you must blame miles and every thing that goes right, miles doesn't get any credit for mantra.
It's pretty ridiculous at this point to still do this.

I think a lot has to do with the fact that LSU defers and starts the 3rd qt on offense and runs the clock down with ball control.....D is good.....

Miles gets credit for hiring a very good DC....his background is offense, not defense....I don't see how anyone could credit him with scheme or x's and o's

The number of 3 and outs the LSU Defense produces is insane.
LSU is 19/36 for 3 and out or something close to this over the first three games!
Of equal note is the # of 3rd Quarter first downs, and I don't believe any opponent has gotten a first down on LSU other than by penalty, and you'd have to go over the play by play to verify that

ESPN was running a stat on the bottom line showing opposing QB's are 2-11 on pass attempts 15+ yards with 3 int's through the 1st 3 games against LSU.

I'll add to that...
Everyone looks at points allowed, but I look at the difference between what the Tigers give up vs. what their opponents normally score.
To date, LSU is holding opponents 17.5 points and 161 yards below average (Oregon running up 69 on Nevada helps).

Sounds like some pretty awesome adjustments are being made at the half

Curious of haw many turnovers we have forced in the third. I know 2 against Oregan and one against moo.
Defense is the best I have seen so far and I'm including the 03 Def. jmo.
