This is the biggest difference between LSU fans and other schools - especially Bama. Most other fan bases don't even recognize other sports.
In 97 I asked a Bama friend if he wanted to watch the CWS CG -- he didn't even know Bama was playing, much less that they were ranked #1 at the time.

Not true. Dickson and Hester were underclassmen. I sure don't have a problem w/ Blue getting it, though.
I'm still trying to sell my 18 jersey signed by all five players if anyone is interested... (@msrbbr on Twitter)

On our previous trips to BCSCG in NOLA, we were ranked #2. This time we're ranked #1.

BCS Coach's Polo (Nike)
Posted by MarkDShark on 1/4/12 at 8:35 am
I'm trying to find the Nike version of the coach's polo w/ the BCS patch. the only one i've seen so far is Cutter & Buck. Nike produced a limited number in 2003 (which weren't available to the public) and 2007 (which I missed out on).
Anybody seen them anywhere?

Hope so.
With the new NFL rules, there's a difference between "1st Round" and "Top 10" picks, but at least the difference is more realistic.
It's not like they would be able to negotiate a huge salary/bonus like Jamarcus did.
But the risk of injury may be the difference between a salary or not, so that's still a huge factor.

UNC just suspended a player because his likeness was used to advertise a party at a club.
I hope everyone who's using TM7's likeness or references is making enough $$$ to cover their hospital fees if they get him suspended.

Actually, they claim 13. Has anyone else picked up that this is the number on the helmet they use for logos, memorabilia, and even the ESPN set?
Check the tape - they had #12 up to and including the BCSCG against Texas. After that they changed to 13.
I think it's a subtle reminder of their history, which is impressive by anyone's standards - but it's also a reminder of the sense of entitlement their fans have.

Well, who is the college team that the mascot is the golden badger? Really ... there is one. Can't remember who .. You're thinking of the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
It's a border-school between Wisconsin and Minnesota.
The Wiskesota Golden Badgers. They do a lot of drinking there.

re: Bama's TE crossing route and "picking" the DB
Posted by MarkDShark on 12/14/11 at 1:24 pm to nicholastiger
Well, one way to stop it would be to blow up the WR running the pick. A full-speed hit from Mo or Reid will make them think twice about it.
Technically, it's legal, and I've seen players use the Umpire on this as well. If the DB sells it, he could get the call for offensive interference - but it's seldom called.
Given that we have a big 12 crew, and they are a pass-happy league, I would expect they will lean toward the offense on these plays.

I REALLY wish the SEC office would rethink putting Mizzou in the East. Let's keep some semblence of credibility and move Auburn to the East.
I know it won't happen, but c'mon man!!
It would even be better to change to North/South...
South:
Texas A&M
Florida
LSU
Auburn
Alabama
Miss St
Ole Miss
North:
Mizzou
Kentucky
Tennessee
Vandy
USCe
Georgia
Arkansas

re: The "ugly truth" if you're a GUMP.
Posted by MarkDShark on 12/12/11 at 12:53 pm to Archie Bengal Bunker
The plain truth is what Bear accomplished (more importantly HOW he accomplished it) will probably never be duplicated.
As I recall, Bama would give full scholarships to 4-star recruits just so they couldn't play for others. Scholarship limits are taking care of that one.
Bama played on TV 2-3 times a year (comparatively LSU only played on TV once or twice). Now everyone (practically) gets that chance, so there's a big group of players that go to other schools and know they have at least some exposure to the NFL.
What Bear did was not cheating. Bama had the money to do it and they did. LSU either didn't have the money or chose not to spend it (same net result). It's just that circumstances have changed. And if LSU or Bama or any southern school starts to go on a tear like Bama did in the 70's, there will cries of anguish from Happy Valley to the Coliseum against us.
(case in point - CWS moved a month later to accommodate northern schools - funny that the weather in Minnesota didn't seem to make that difference when USC and Arizona were winning the CWS.)
This is why SEC dominance is so awesome right now. If it was only one or two teams, the others would legislate against us.

I got sick to death of this crap.
2007 - CLM's 3rd year at LSU.
2009 - $sban's 3rd year at Bama.
Les Miles won with Saban's players to the same extent Saban won with Shula's - but that little nugget of truth is forever lost to ESPN, CBS, and Gumpland.
re: How many plays is Les sitting on for the NC Game?
Posted by MarkDShark on 12/12/11 at 12:17 pm to wish i was tebow
A. We haven't seen the full-bore Jet Sweep this year at all. RS in motion, full speed at the snap. I actually like the "touch pass" I've seen Okie St and others use off this play - it counts as a pass so if there's a problem on the exchange it's an incomplete pass not a fumble.
B. How about a pass off the option? If the end takes JJ, he pitches to the back, but if not, the receiver releases his block and goes down the sideline - JJ can float a pass to OBJ or RR. Wide open.

My daughter's HS classmate was the punter for Florida. He said he's never been more scared than having to squeeze between the wall and the cage/trailer.
Apparently, the driver parks "too close to the wall".

Its like les miles knows something that no one else knows .. he can see the future or something
My wife has pointed this out on several occasions. After he released Perilloux he said something to the effect that 2008 was gonna be a rebuilding year.
In 2009 he said we'd be better, but not great.
In 2010 he said we needed some breaks but could be a contender - which we were until the Auburn game.
This year he said we had a very good chance at a "special" season.
Despite the clock-management issues and verbal gymnastics, Miles knows his teams. Gotta give him his due.

The last time LSU lost on turf was the last time LSU lost.
Arkansas 2010.
I have to really dig out the way-back machine to find the last time we lost indoors, though.
I think we lost at Tulane in 1981 or 1982, but I can't think of another indoor loss since then.

It was a JOKE. Sorry if I offended.
But to the point, last time I checked, Lacombe was still part of Louisiana, and I am clearly identified as an LSU fan - so we're on the same side, dude.

Cockroach2 should be banned for life POS!! He has no idea who Mo is and what she has gone through to get where she is in life. Pretty amazing girl!
Whatever he wrote was removed before I saw it, but based on a couple other posts, I can get the gist of it.
And I agree about having him banned. It's extremely brave of him to post to an anonymous board, but I doubt seriously he'd say anything like that in public - unless you call the skinhead neandertals he probably hangs with (literally) "public".
I've never met Mo, but by ALL accounts she is a remarkable girl w/ a level head on her shoulders.
My guess is this lowlife POS has a personal Jodie Foster complex w/ Mo.
