My general hatred of Notre Dame does not really have anything to do with LSU.

They knocked LSU out of a bowl game one year. Can't remember the details. Maybe Google has it.

Traditonally they have been overrated and they screwed us out of a national championship in 69 when they decided to go to a bowl game and kicked LSU out of a spot. We were really highly ranked and got screwed.

same reason most hate the yankees....the media shoves them in your face and tired of hearing about how great the tradition is....their own nbc tv contract, etc.

x2.

No way to explain it. If Notre Dame and Ohio State were playing each other I'd be pulling for BOTH of 'em to lose. Used to feel that way about Michigan too until Les Miles gained my admiration and respect.

I don't think it is hate from LSU only...they consistently are overhyped based on their past. IT wouldn't be as bad if they were actually decent, but they aren't even that.

Back in 1969 LSU had a great team. The Cotton Bowl was one of the 4 major bowls that played on New Years back then & LSU was prepared to go play in it. That invite was assured behind the scenes by Cotton Bowl officials when the invitations were to be revealed. Notre Dame didn't play in bowls back then...then (ND) voted to start that year in a last minute decision. 9 and 1 (loss to Ole Miss, 23 to 26) LSU was left out of the bowl picture because the Cotton Bowl jumped on ND when they said they would play that year.

There's a big difference: the Yankees are usually really good. I don't "hate" Notre Dame, or any other team really, but they've been mediocre for a long, long time now. They still get preseason votes, bowl consideration and media coverage as if they were a major program. It's all so stupid that it makes me resent them.

And no, for me it has nothing to do with LSU or what some bowl committee did to hurt people's feelings in 1960 something. I'm just sick of the coverage. Army was a powerhouse at one time. Yale practically invented the game and ruled for half a century. Those teams aren't shoved down our throats, why Notre Dame?

1969; but it goes beyond that for me and many others. The uncalled-for attention and love that the national media has for ND over any other school, NBC's long-term TV contract with ND, the unfair advantage they get for bowl consideration over any other non-aligned school, and most of all--Any southerner worth his weight in salt hates a yankee school who thinks the single-wing is still a hot offense.

I hate Notre Dame because they get preferential treatment and everybody worships them. I also hate when Catholics say they pull for Notre Dame because it's a Catholic school. That might be the dumbest argument I've ever heard. Guess I better start pulling for Baylor!

I hate Notre Dame because their fans are a bunch of smug, pasty faced mediocrities who have have an unjustified, overinflated sense of their own academic and athletic worth; a herd of ugly middle managers in training who will forever harken back to the glory days of the Four Horsemen. It's as if someone needs to remind them, forcibly, each and every day, that they haven't won an NC in a fricking quarter century. I hope their campus burns to the ground and the cinders are swept away in a providential windstorm (with no injuries or casualities, obviously).
