He says that the University presidents are meeting and voting this afternoon/evening. A formal invitation will be offered to A&M and they will accept it immediately.
He also claims that he has sources who say that Oklahoma is only about a week or so behind A&M in bolting from the Big 12.

Best wishes texas. And, no, no baby, It's not you - really, I mean that - it isn't you at all, it's everyone else.

With or without t.u. in tow?
I would absolutely
1. OU and OSU joined the superPAC and somehow managed to get Texas Tech an invite as well (add Nevada and you've got your 16 teams with three new states)
2. Mizzou (finally) got its B1G invite (they really really want it and really really fit in better there than the SEC)
3. Kansas and K-State join the Big East and somehow managed to get Iowa State an invite as well (the Cyclones have been on the bubble but haven't done anything to anger anyone's fan base)
4. t.u. gets turned down by the other superconferences, thus forced to go indie much much sooner than they wanted
5. Baylor gets turned down by every other FBS conference (including the MAC and Sun Belt), thus being relegated to FCS status (and then gets turned down by the Southland Conference as well)

I can believe it.
Stoops just took a veiled shot at Texas by saying that he didn't see the big deal behind keeping the Red River Shootout each year if Texas and OU are in separate conferences.
Normal coach-speak etiquette would be "It would be nice to keep up our rivalry" yadda yadda yadda. As Gary Pinkel has shown in the past week, though, coach-speak appears to be in short supply within the Big 12 these days.

In my opinion Texas is going to be forced to pick between ATM and OU. IN other words, go to the PaC 12 with OU, or go to the SEC with ATM.
It is their two best options.
Granted they will have to give up alot...(LHN, big dog status). But i think that is what ultimately happens.
If Texas calls, slive and scott would both answer.

F that. I will take A&M, but I don't want OK or UT in the SEC. Take Va Tech from the ACC, make it an even 14, and call it a day.

I think OU has to keep the RRS to keep that major recruiting status in Texas. A game against Tech or a non con in Cowboys Stadium would not cut it.
But if the superPAC happens without Texas involved, which is supposedly on the table...

i will be shocked if OU leaves. Texas will somehow find replacement teams for the Big 12 and the league will limp on. i just can't see UT or OU going to the pac...olympic sports mean a lot to texas it would be pretty stupid for them having to travel constantly to the west coast.

I'm glad the Big 12 is blowing up without having to invite Houston or whoever.
I've seen another Texas fan or two on here who seem to be defending the LHN and whatever direction-of-the-day we're heading in. Hopefully they will get their act together and join the Pac-16. I suspect a lot of the ACC/independent talk is just posturing. If not, thank you UT and ESPN for ruining all of our rivalries and sending us to a conference or nowhere at all that makes 0 sense.

But only Scott would really listen.
Slive would recognize that A&M, once in, could probably get its own gentlemen's agreement (with the most likely partners being Arkansas and LSU, and Alabama as the fourth) and block an invite. Plus Slive already has his inroads into the DFW and Houston markets with A&M, no need to double down.

Wouldn't be far from imagination to think that A&M got reassurance from the SEC that they would be the only Texas school in the SEC. SEC does not want to deal with Texas, and Texas fans think they are too intelligent and above the SEC. They rather be chilling in Berkeley.

Well then you might be shocked in the next couple of weeks, because rumors have been swirling for a couple of weeks now that OU and Texas both might be considering bolting the Big 12 with a school or two in tow.
The Big 12 can't survive so long as Texas has its own network as well as a bigger piece of the pie.

Concur. Wonder if they got similar assurances about OU not coming as well? (OU also competes with them for DFW area)

it just amuses me that not long ago, we were called trash, a dirty conference, a conference of very substandard academics and cheaters.
so are we still that?
