TCU is in a tough spot...will the Big East be viable when the dust settles?

Think about this...TCU to the Big 12 could save the Big East.

Assuming A&M is leaving, the Big 12 will need to add. Right now, the only school in the region with a decent athletics program is TCU.

If the Big 12 implodes, and there is a race by the other conferences to jump to 14 or 16 teams, it appears that the Big East will be raided by the ACC, Big Ten and maybe even the SEC.

Where will that leave TCU?

Or does TCU become the next team added to the SEC West because of the Big 12's implosion?

My head hurts...

Things are too fluid and chaotic to make any good predictions as practically anything is possible. About the only thing you can hang your hat on is that the SEC, PAC and B1G will be around. The ACC could implode if say they lost VT and FSU to the SEC. The AAU schools (NC, Duke, MD, and VA) could look to the B1G and I think they would take them. That would leave the BE and remaining ACC merging.

This said, I don't think TCU belongs in the BE, but they needed to go there. I certainly wouldn't join the Big 12 for the pleasure of being TX's bitch. I have advocated TCU for the SEC for strategic reasons and would welcome them, but who knows what will happen.

I think TCU ends up in a middle of the country/Texas conference that results from the leftover schools like Baylor, Kansas St., Iowa St. etc. This is just my opinion.

I think Kansas goes somewhere like the Big East/Big Ten or ACC cause of their basketball. Mizzou will whine and complain until the Big 10(+2) accepts them. Otherwise I think that is a good list of schools.

I don't think the ACC will implode. I think they'll add a couple teams. I see these 5 adding etc and Big 12 going away unless they figure something out quick.

ACC
Big East
Big 10
SEC
PAC

Congrats on this clusterfrick Texas.

My prediction us that there are behind the scene meetings going on to keep it intact. I think the PAC 16 is a smokescreen. Just like when Texas hired Mack Brown. We were all focused elsewhere and then the next thing you know Mack Brown Is wearing burnt orange.

I can see that to a degree, but that depends on trust amongst the Big 12 members. And the "little 8" trust Texas about as far as they can throw them right now.

Any member who can secure a soft landing is probably trying to do so now, such as Kansas and K-State looking toward the Big East and Mizzou showing some leg to the Big Ten and SEC in the desperate hope that they'll be picked up by last call.

There's no money in adding a Dallas school to the Big XII, they'd let the conference fall apart before diluting the money pool. Expansion is all about the green.

Im not sure TCU is ready to jump into what appears to be a repetitively crumbling Big 12. The potential for the Big East to be pilfered and broken down is real, however, I would assume TCU would be in a good position to be one of the teams picked out of that conference. I would really like to see the SEC stay as it is but if 4 super conferences are inevetable, I would love to see TCU in the SEC. That match seems to fit geographically well.
