Is there something I am missing with this show? I have given it two episodes and have mildly laughed twice I think maybe three times.

I think its a pretty funny show. I've only seen a few episodes but they were all really funny. It does have a different sense of humor though that some people don't like as much.

It is a weak knockoff of Larry David in Curb is the vibe I get.

I like to think of it as an 'existential comedy' where parts of it are legitimately funny (the stand up bits) and others impart some weird, dark slice of life that doesn't equal comedy, but rather some life lesson, much of which is empathetic self-loathing.

That was worded poorly on my part.
Certainly parts of it are intended to be funny. Other parts are more like life musings.
Mostly FX gave C.K. creative control and he's run with it. Doesn't want to do anything conventional, so he just does weird strange things sometimes.
It's not always the most fun show to watch. But it's really well made.

Loved last season. This season however has been awful. Just awful. Add Wilford to that. Those 2 shows have been very underwhelming.

I think season 2 was better than season 1. Wilfred had it's humorous moments as well.

Louie is the only show on TV I consider appointment television. Once you get past the conception that's its not really a sitcom, but playing with the sitcom form, it's a brilliant show. I don't really think its all that funny, though there are funny moments, but it is a fabulous deconstruction of television.
Not even Curb can touch this. This show is actively rejecting the absurdity of situational comedy and exposing the situations as the lies they are. And what's great is that Louie is not exempt from criticism. He gave Godfrey the "victory" in the most recent episode about two comics (it's called empathy man, understanding people who are different than you). Or that his critiques of Christians have always been proven to be ill-informed on the show.
And the Dane Cook episode might be the most fascinating thing I've ever seen on a sitcom.

My smug meter just went off. This season just seems like hes trying too hard to make a point. Like the episode where his gassy sister goes to the hospital and he has to depend on his neighbors at 3am. No, that was just very...whats the word?...uhhh.....its....uhh

I loved his HBO show. I haven't been able to get into this one though. I've only tried watching it twice so I'm sure I'll give it another shot. It just hasn't done anything for me.
